Go fuck yourself.
They knew it was a lie when they let people vote on it.
Brown knew it would cost far more, take far longer, travel much slower and not go where they said when he let people vote on it when he was California's Attorney General. He supported it, still supports it and allowed the fraud be perpetrated on the citizens of the state for his partisan gain. Suck it up, lick it up and I hope it eventually collapses from it's own cost over runs.
oooh someone's had a red bull or two.
nice of you to wish failure upon a state, but it's California, so you know, it's not really the US.Goddamn, you're pathetic.

this is why it's hard to take hyperloop seriously. if it costs a billion a mile just to do the tunnel, it just isn't practical

maybe that's just some exceptionally difficult terrain, maybe the Boring Company can revolutionize tunnel costs, but until something dramatic changes, it's not going anywhere

It is hard to take the hyper-loop seriously because it isn't realistic from a technical standpoint.

Wtf, how can it cost that much more than Taiwan High Speed Rail?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwan_High_Speed_Rail

I continue to have the same question. Why is infrastructure in the US so wildly expensive these days? Adjusted for inflation (2015) the entirety of the interstate system cost $500B and I would wager that we couldn't even repair the damn thing today for the same price, again adjusted for inflation, as it cost to build the damn thing.

They are so far off from completing the project it's scary.

A variety of reasons. Political interference, excessive local input, poor project phasing, requirements imposed by funding source that drive up costs, outdated union work rules that lead to overstaffing, project management by percentage which creates a perverse incentive to inflate costs, lack of qualified & experienced contractors/labor due to erratic steam of work, etc.

US infrastructure work is hideously expensive by any standard. Even the most labor friendly countries in Europe (France for example) don't come within spitting distance of our costs.

trump will erase 3000 manufacturing jobs for every 1000 steel making jobs. The new republican is the low iq blue collar guy who refuses to change.

What in the world makes you think we would save 40% by using government entities for construction projects?

I'm not sure that even a 40% decrease would put us in line with what other 1st world nations are paying for infrastructure projects but I would really like to know why using private companies costs an extra 40%. I am in the private construction industry and I can tell you that our profit margins are nowhere near 40%.

Secretly, the deplorables love Hollywood movies, porn, iPhones, Google and Mexican food.

Come on Trumpsters, you know you can't get enough of California but you just can't afford to make it here cause you are too weak and lazy to compete against real hard working Capitalists. That's why you have all flocked to nationalism and hide behind racism.

It's difficult for me to fathom how an adult can be this ignorant.
Do you think people will like you if you jump on the band wagon? Is it all about the approval of others, or is it just that hate makes you feel superior?

meanwhile we have a 6.1 billion budget surplus.

Meanwhile, we have a over $120 billion in public pension liabilities. Kind of makes the $100 billion dollar train to nowhere look like money well spent.

When it comes to large infrastructure investments, it is not unusual for public authorities trying to justify their effort to understate the costs and overstate the benefits,” said James Moore, director of the transportation engineering program at USC. “It is in my opinion overly deceptive. We have seen on transportation projects this militant defense that is meant to cause the public to remain calm.”

Moore said the surge in costs is likely to foreshadow even greater future increases. On the horizon are more difficult segments, such as the long underground passage through the Tehachapi and San Gabriel Mountains and the route into the urban San Francisco Bay Area.

I hate this because we need more public transportation in this country and yet we seem incapable of following through. As a country we need density, less cars, more public transportation, etc. The rest of the world far surpasses us in rail tech, it’s time we try and catch up.

Part of the problem is corruption in the system.

For instance, the hyperloop, a failed century old idea revived by Elon Musk, is consuming untold amounts of money. It's a complete waste of time, and the figures that elon puts on the cost were so far off that it's laughable.

It is hard to take the hyper-loop seriously because it isn't realistic from a technical standpoint.

You could almost certainly build it. It would probably be best if it was done underground though, which adds a lot to the price, like 5 fold iirc. The cost would be ridiculous.
