"...21 percent were targets of educators, while the remaining 79 percent were targets of other students." Ohh man from your 2nd link, if we were to focus on dealing with sexual misconduct, we would have to look at the students and not the teachers; as there is a overwhelming larger number of students then teacher in the education system.

Back on topic though, its Fox News... until it comes from the BBC or CNN, I take such coverage as a bias. I have learned over the years that center media outlets do have a view no matter what the viewership tends to believe.

So as long as it's only 21% of child molestations done by faculty it's perfectly fine with you? What union are you in ?

If you think my kids are morons and screwed, then I wonder what depth of hell you are living in. lol

I hope they do teach my children this. I'd rather they got the facts than a "fair and balanced" education.

You guys should listen to Hmoob, he knows what he is talking about. I used to believe exactly what you guys do until I started getting information from more than just Fox News.

What does Fox news have to do with anything? The OP is about a teachers union video showing wealthy people pissing on citizens and my link is a peer reviewed study about how often teachers and other faculty molest children and a CNN story about teachers unions covering up for their members.
I wouldn't wish that kind of horror on anyone or their children.

Matt, this is the kind of thread that is going to make you wonder if you're the last sane person on earth.

Original video:
http://www.cft.org/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6ZsXrzF8Cc

Lee Doren's critique of it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5f6FZGjF8OA

Lee Doren... I went in thinking he would be credible to a degree and unbiased. Not even close.

He talks about education spending increasing over time. It's obvious it would increase, the problem isn't that we are spending more money then we use to. The problem is we are not spending enough money to sustain our education system. There's a problem when your college system can't create classes for student, high schools are full to the brim with students, and teachers are taking pay cuts when they are suppose to be educating our future.

Most of it is fine, but he is still very bias from his choice of example and words. Plus he should've been doing a comparison of the "fairy tale" world with our current economic situation and show us the relations. He's taking it as a literal example of our economy. To generalize such things is demagoguery. He's just expressing his opinion but from all that I saw it as just a opinion. Not something that is even credible.

He really needs to present himself in another way if he wants more credibility. Especially with his book.

It's 21 percent of the student who claim sexual harassment. To say that it is a wide spread problem is the media's doing. I do not wish upon anyone's child to be placed in such a position but to make such a hasty generalization about things is a fallacy. To say that it is 21 percent of the student population and use that as a raw figure is being ignorant. To use your logic, to really combat the problem of sexual misconduct in the education system we would have to look at the students, which would be either us or our children. To target teachers only is just being discriminatory.

Plus about the unions, I'm against them and against what they usually do but to say that it is the one of the things they do... you are just trying to paint the picture wrong. If there is ever a reason for grounds of dismissal and the school administration follows all the procedures and the unions know they did this; there is no way the union would even to defend such a individual. Whether it be because of sexual misconduct or anything else.

Talking about biased? What about the fucking original video?

I know the video is biased. The thing we were talking about being bias is the news outlet he chose to use. It would be a lot better if he just linked us to the original video and not Fox News. There are people like me who like to think for ourselves. There's a reason why he chose Fox News and not the original video that is on their webpage.

@www.cft.org

Like I said I do not agree with the perception of the video but it is just a "fairy tale" perception of our economy.

http://seattletimes.com/news/local/coaches/news/dayone.html

About 10 seconds searching found this case. The union protected the coach and covered up his record so he could "teach" in other districts.

• Over the past decade, 159 coaches in Washington have been fired or reprimanded for sexual misconduct ranging from harassment to rape. Nearly all were male coaches victimizing girls. At least 98 of these coaches continued to coach or teach.

• The number of offending coaches is much greater. When faced with complaints against coaches, school officials often failed to investigate them and sometimes ignored a law requiring them to report suspected abuse to police. Many times, they disregarded a state law requiring them to report misconduct to the state education office.

• Even after getting caught, many men were allowed to continue coaching because school administrators promised to keep their disciplinary records secret if the coaches simply left. Some districts paid tens of thousands of dollars to get coaches to leave. Other districts hired coaches they knew had records of sexual misconduct.

• When the state gets involved, its investigations can be as flawed as local districts’. On average, the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) took two years to investigate a case and sometimes didn’t conduct a single interview with a victim, coach or school official. Often, the state simply dropped investigations, leaving accused coaches with clean records and valid teaching certificates.

It's amazing to me that no matter how many times in history the rich have fucked the poor, Republicans and Fox News want us to believe that it isn't happening again. Instead, we have to watch out for the moochers. How many civilizations in history have been destroyed by moochers?

You Republicans are a disgrace to the human race. You never learn from history. You make up your own history, think you are able to see the future, and then claim victory based in an altered reality.

Oh ya, just blame the messenger. I think fox did a pretty good job putting this video in it's place but here, watch the whole thing with no commentary.

Ok, give me one example how the rich have fucked the poor.

I am rarely an advocate for the rich, but this piece of trash cartoon is patently dishonest. If it were more honest I would support it, b/c the rich certainly do have a large advantage in this country.

Since you like to think for yourself you should be able to get information from anywhere without it being a problem.

I do think for myself. But to say I can get any information from anywhere without there being a problem; how about you give me your social security number, credit card number, and etc. How about we start with that since you think you know so much.

I never said I could get information from anywhere. I said I like to get as much information as I can from as much unbiased views as I can. I'm not someone who gets suckered into something just because some one else believes it is so.

I did watch it for what it was. A "fairy tale". To honestly say that you took the video for what was on it at face value... good for you . For me all it is is another perspective on another topic. And I have already made up my mind on it's validity. I'm not blaming Fox as a news outlet. All I'm saying is that I question their pieces, because I was raised to question news with bias views. Everything on that video can be verify and if people don't take the time to find out the truth for themselves all it does is create a outcry from people who are even less informed then the people who know nothing about it.

The problem is "unbiased" doesn't always equal "true". If you filter out those you think are biased (out of hand) then you could be missing information that you'd skip because of "bias".
