It snows on Cajon pass every year. Not sure why this is news, but OK.

Driving in the snow is easy-peazee. Take your right foot and stomp on the long slender pedal and hold it firmly to the floor no matter what the car is doing, just keep that pedal down. You can also use the left foot to stomp on the flat wide pedal if it makes you feel good but it is not necessary, just keep that right foot planted. I learned this watching Kentuckians drive in the snow.

Is it going to be like when it snowed in Georgia and people were stuck in their cars for 24 hours?

Snow Level dropped to around 2000 feet last night in Orange County. This is the lowest I have seen the snow level on the Santa Ana Mountains. It was weird this morning seeing some people who drive in from Temecula having snow on their car. Don't see that much in Orange County.

View of the Santa Ana Mountains that I took this morning.

The storm made it to Tucson...

The real problems start tonight with temps expected in the low 20s. W'ere stripping the citrus today, pulling in all the potted succulents, stringing Christmas lights, covering stuff up, and hoping for the best.

It's a two fold problem:
1. They don't get much snow there so they don't really have much equipment to plow/handle the snow.
2. People are as dumb as rocks, are not prepared and can't drive on dry pavement much less snow covered pavement.

What about your birdie? You should put it in your pocket to keep it warm.

Sounds like that black ice with the lower coefficient of friction that Exterous sent us last year.

Back to the OP, I hope the global warming So Cals freeze to death.

I moved from central PA to the L.A. metro area about a year ago. While typically Southern Californians have a very, very narrow tolerance for a change in weather - at 65ºF coats come out and above 85ºF then oh-my-god-it-is-way-too-hot. I grew up in Texas so I don't have patience with people complaining that their 80 degree summer is sweltering.

However, it has been pretty legit cold recently. I think Big Bear got down to 8º which is pretty legitimately cold. They get for-real snow up in the mountains. Outside of the mountains, I would be shocked if they had any equipment to deal with icy roads (I know growing up in Texas we sure as hell didn't).

Ask me how my day went.

Thanks for asking. I juiced two gallons of lemon juice today. For the uninitiated, that's a lot of lemons. Know what's more fun than juicing lemons? "Nothing", you say? Well, juicing lemons after picking frozen lemons with frozen fingers is better. For the uninitiated, lemon trees have thorns. Even if you are initiated, lemon trees still have thorns. Juicing lemons when you have puncture wounds on your frozen fingers is really the best. So Conan got that part wrong: hearing the laments of their women is not the best thing in life.

As soon as I drink some more pop I can free up more bottles to juice more lemons. Drink, piss, juice. That's my life.

I live in Palos Verdes with an ocean view. At the end of the day I do find value in paying that premium. . . but, damn, it is a premium.

I'm pissed enough at the thin layer of frost on my windshield when I leave for work in San Diego, I'm sure glad it didn't snow. We did briefly get some flurries though.

I really hope you west coast guys get northern ice and not that scary southern ice. It would be unfortunate for your entire network of road ways to be shut down due to some southern ice. Northern ice though? You don't even lose traction!
