This state is quite possibly coming down to a fight between the taxpayers and the unions/politicians. And while the unions/politicians don't seem to know math, not understanding that they are expediting statewide bankruptcy, they continue to push for more taxpayer money. Schools & school children lose. Teachers, unions & black hole pension funds win.

I beg any Californians reading this to vote:

Prop 30 -------> NO

Prop 32 -------> YES

Don't let the cute little buttons the "poor teachers" are wearing fool you or your kids!

One of the most expensive states is not expensive enough. Keep spending!

It worked for Greece, it'll work for California.

But when do they retire and how much time do they have to put in?

Cuz in Greece you automatically got to retire at 55 regardless of what you did or how long you did it.

I'd vote as the OP (and others in this thread would), but I wouldn't expect it to turn out for the best.

It'll turn out for the best, just don't live in CA.

You see... Dems will get to suck the place dry, burn it to the ground, and leave nothing left for tomorrow. When CA is laying in ruins we'll get to use it as an example to warn others.

The problem is if they bail out CA. Then the nation falls instead.

Vote yes on 32, stop the unions from taking money without permission for political causes. I shouldn't have to jump to a bunch of hoops each year to stop the union from taking hundreds of dollars a year from me.

That's what I've been preaching to friends and relatives out of state......

If California goes bankrupt, we *could* win if we are left to rewrite all of our collective bargaining agreements with ANYONE leeching the state dry now as judges would get to open all of those books and rewrite the game in the name of fiscal sanity!

But..........if we get bailed out federally, I'd be the first to stand at the highest peak of the Sierras and yell to the other 49 states, "I tried to tell these lunatics.....Now YOU get to foot the bill for California too!!!"

Or you could repeal Prop 13 and restore some fiscal sanity to the state. I have zero sympathy for states (including my own) where people vote to cut taxes then scream "We're broke!" Of course you're broke, you gutted your tax base. This raid on the pension system is simply a way for the rich to pass the costs of their tax perks onto the working class and the old to pass the costs of their tax perks onto the young. Classic class warfare and the rich and old are winning, again.

One issue is Californians love voting YES on big spending projects, 50+ billion on a high speed rail, but they refuse to raise taxes for these same projects. They want their cake, but they don't want to pay for it.

VOTE YES on 32, Vote YES on 30. We need to raise taxes, not lower them. Also Vote YES on 38 and YES on 39.

Propositions in California are meaningless. Some judge there will decide he knows better than the populous and change the ruling to whatever result he wants, just like what happened in the recent past.

There are more takers than makers in CA. So while I slave away at my job, some asshole who retired from the DMV at age 45 gets to vote himself my paycheck. If it wasn't for the awesome weather and lack of Jesus freaks, I'd be outta here.

I hope you are not referring to proposition 8.

Make sure to vote NO on Prop 35.

I think the voter guide sums it up nicely:

This short-sighted ballot measure relies on a broad definition of pimping.

Never thought I'd read that in the arguments for/against a proposition. But this is California I guess :awe:

I don't see anything worth voting YES on besides 32.

You mean like devastating cuts to much needed programs, shutting down high school sports, and other after school programs. Programs to provide service for the poor will be eliminated, children will suffer the greatest of all if 30 fails.

God you are such a dullard. The whole fucking thing is to shore up state worker pensions. None of the 50 Billion or so from this new tax will go to school classrooms or after school programs. The California School Boards Association even admits this. Furthermore, they are going to spend billions on slow-speed rail and the state parks have been caught hoarding 54 million dollars while screaming poverty. The yes crowd are holding your precious programs hostage and you buy it hook, line and sinker.

Actually the CSU (California State University) system has determined in 30 fails, the number of students they will be able to admit (the number of students who will be able to go to college) will be significantly lower. They will be sending out letters out to seniors and CC students who are applying to warn them of the dangers if prop 30 fails.

It would be smart if school districts sent letter to parents warning if no more sports and after school activity if prop 30 fails.

ROFLMAO! ....and then some.

Every time a politician sees a possibility of spending cuts, the first ones they say that will suffer are the orphaned, crippled kids with cancer that just want to go to school.
