Guess you've missed the threads where Californians were so hyped on HSR and how it must be done now.
What does that have to do with a water shortage?

Stop building oil pipelines like Keystone that sends our oil to other Countries for massive profits while raping Americans and build pipelines that interconnect water resources around the country so we can divert rainwater where it is coming down most to areas where it stopped coming down.
Such a simple thing to do but won't do it because water doesn't make anywhere near the amount of profit that oil does.

Californians can walk and chew gum.

The Keystone pipeline is primarily to carry Canadian oil down here.
Also there is a ban on US exports of crude oil. It would probably be a good thing if we could export any excess as it would help with our trade imbalance.
By "here" you mean to the Port Arthur refinery complex located in a foreign free trade zone where nearly all of it will be exported as refined product.
I'm actually generally in favor of allowing the pipeline to be built but let's not delude ourselves that it will be to our benefit.
For the most part Californians are doing their part to stop breeding, its the illegals that are ruining those plans.
Dave,
The Keystone pipeline is primarily to carry Canadian oil down here. We're not piping it up to them. (Although we do sell them some, but if I understand correctly the pipeline only goes one way. Why would it not? Does it make any sense to build a pipeline to pump crude down here and at the same time pump it back up there too through the same pipeline?)
Also there is a ban on US exports of crude oil. It would probably be a good thing if we could export any excess as it would help with our trade imbalance. In addition, China badly need oil from other countries. Why not get them hooked on our oil supply as we are on their money supply? Who would win in a 'push come to shove' situation?
Fern

Dude, I am well aware of what the Oil Thugs want with that pipeline if you have followed all the articles I have posted about it.
You have it wrong. Should try reading some of the articles.
They will pump that oil to Houston to refine gasoline to export. They will also export the oil of they can get the export ban lifted.
The point is they are raping the shit out of Americans while Americans subsidize the world with our resources.
At least the OPEC Countries reap the rewards of shipping their resources out, we get shit on.
No proof, just more emotionally-charged "Chicken Little" style action, that's all we ever get from you.

Desalination works but it's pretty bad for the surrounding sea ecology.
They're bringing business to our refineries so they can refine.
You hate seeing Americans get work?
Stop watering lawns with drinking supply.
Require that all residential swimming pools have and use covers when not in use.
Fix leaking supply infrastructure.
Comprehensively change statewide building code to require even more efficient fixtures in new construction. Require grey water systems for landscape irrigation in all new development.
Implement and fund a statewide initiative to replace legacy fixtures with low flow ones. Go business to business and house to house if necessary.
Establish reservoirs and along drainage paths near aquifers that can accept forced recharge. Draw on these aquifers when normal sources are low.
Revamp irrigation standards and practices for agriculture.
Yes, and contrary to your assertions they are not "shipping our resources out".

In this case it's Canada outsourcing jobs to us.

Indeed, I have, it's for bringing in Canadian petroleum to be refined.
We still have golf courses wasting water, so the situation can't be that bad.
