Call of Duty: Black Ops

I'm still undecided. The idea of the extra zombie maps is nice but that's $20 for 4 extra maps that alot of people won't have (so you won't play as often). I think that unless lots of the people play with often get the extra maps it may be wasted money. I posted a "which version are you buying" poll on the AVS boards and so far it's about 21 buying the Standard, 3 buying Hardened, and 2 buying Prestige.

Although I called Amazon and since I pre-ordered the normal edition (at the pricing error) and they cancelled it they'll give me the $20 credit when I pre-order it again, glad I didn't miss out on that. Although I'm thinking that chances are that they'll add the $20 credit back in anyways.

I haven't bought the map packs either, but this close to a new game I didn't plan on it. I was late to the game, never even played MW1 and got MW2 only a few months ago. I figure might as well get the maps now since I'm getting it right from the start. Plus I get a cool medal to stick on my shirt while I play!

COD4 is under $15 used on Amazon. Even new copies are all under $30.

MW2 is $30 used, ~$50 new.

sounds like they have added a ton of crap on top of the game

heaven forbid you concentrate on good gamepley instead of gimicks

if they do launch with decent COOP I will buy it anyways thought as good coop games are few and far between

hopefully it has a level close to as awesome as storming the reichstag

Yeah, my buddy bought the GotY edition of CoD 4 for $18 new a few months ago.

Yeah cod4 is like 3 years old now and not worth buying. You wont see Black Ops new at a retail store for $30 for a long time, you might be able to catch at it BB for $39.99 tho. I got cod4 from BB around christmas time the year it came out for $39.99

CoD 4 is one of my favorite games of all time, if I didn't own it I'd still buy it for $20 or more. There's still around 15,000 people playing online every evening and the single player campaign is very good.

Yeah I'm going to start playing that again soon. I beat the campaign on PC with super low res settings a while back, but am working through the SP on Veteran; and need to try some MP. Maybe when I get home - it's been a long week.

CoD 4's MP is much better than MW2's, the issue is that it doesn't feel as flashy/polished now as it used to (you could say it's showing it's age), but it's still a blast. The maps were so perfectly designed.

Veteran is a bear on that game, especially Mile High Club and the flashback level with the ferris wheel.

Yeah holy shit, I got owned by that ferris wheel section. I ended up hiding in one of the little sheds and just hoping none of the NPCs would throw a lucky grenade that could hit me. MW2's Veteran campaign was much easier since there were no infinite spawns. I actually sort of preferred it but I know some people can't get enough difficulty.

You talking about that level where you end up camped waiting for the chopper with your wounded colleague? Yeah, that is going to suck on Veteran. It does get a bit old dying so often on Vet; still working on the MW2 Veteran campaign as well.

MW2 vet campaign is a breeze compared to the CoD 4 vet campaign.

For the ferris wheel part I crouched down behind the metal fenced off area to the right of the actual ferris wheel and amazingly enough I survived. Man it was tough though!

So basically they took everything people wanted and put it in the game, fixed up the things people didn't like much so people would like them, and then threw out garbage that nobody really liked. I'm 98% confident I will like this game.
