Game has been almost unplayable this weekend. First there seems to be a TON of lag... I'm talking game-changing lag at the worst possible times. Second, the map pack + double XP seems to have brought out the terrible players. I'm only objective-based games these days, and lately the games are riddled with people who have no idea what's going on. Basically if you get a team with two people working together, they're going to dominate.

Well I kinda missed out on the double XP weekend. Either I didn't have time to play, or I just didn't feel like it because I've been kinda on a Prison Break marathon the last few days.

At level 20, the only Pro perks I may have unlocked are soh and hardline. I don't bother with Ghost Pro unless untill I've found a Sentry Gun. This past Prestige, with the double xp and all, I didn't find a Sentry till level 35 or so. So, I'll probably get Ghost pro by the time I'm about ready to Prestige. The other pro perk I shoot for, which isn't really needed as well, is Hacker Pro. Takes forever to get that 25 claymore/c4 kill. Near equipment kill is alot easier using the motion sensor.

Another set of perks that I've found to be extremely usefull in domination matches on certain maps are Flak Jacket + Tactical Mask. Berlin Wall B spot is awesome. I just lay on one of the sides next to B, and people keep throwing their nades, tubes, rpg's and I just laugh. They'll try nova gas, and I laugh even harder. When they run in front of B, I blast away. I did the same thing while covering B on Kowloon as well. It's the funniest thing. I should save these matches.

Also, If you get Flak + Tac Pro, you're immune to everything except bullets.

this is actually really fun, running through nape fire killing people is great as i can only imagine the WTF face they have on when i knife them in the fire

I too noticed the huge amounts of newblets in the game. I generally got stuck on the losing team when I'd join a game and the 2-3 good players on the other team would mop up. My score would end up being at or better than the best player on the other team, but we'd still lose by a huge margin. :awe:

I only leveled up a couple times (40-43/44?), as I was only able to play a bit Sunday night. I'd have liked to prestiged again, but oh well. I doubt I will prestige again now. those damn perks...

That actually sounds pretty badass . I would just have a hard time giving up my Marathon Pro - so useful in the objective game types.

I'm glad it wasn't just me. I got so sick of getting dumped into games that were half over and my side was getting destroyed. I don't know how many times I saw some joker with the flag just continue to camp his sniping spot, totally oblivious to wtf he was supposed to be doing.

There was one time I was running the enemy flag back to our base and the other team had dropped our flag nearby. So I couldn't cap it until it was returned. On my way back to our base, I saw our dropped flag a little out of my way, but there was a teammate standing right next to it. "Sweet... now that he sees me he'll return ours so I can cap."

Nope. Moron just stood there and sniped away at the trees. So I had to backtrack all the way back to return our own damn flag, and naturally got shot up on the way. I wanted to fuck that kid in the eyeballs.

I doubt I will prestige again now. those damn perks...

Very nice. That map is by far my and my freinds' favorite map. We spend a majority of our time playing domination. We were complaining over the weekend that it never comes up anymore. I bet I haven't played it in my plast 20 hrs of playtime.

Was that playlist option just a certain gametype or does it rotate (deathmatch, domination, CtF, etc)?

If you like to take a "scoring" role in games like HQ and CTF (as opposed to a support role like securing perimeters), Marathon Pro is an absolute must (just having double sprint time isn't going to cut it - you really need unlimited). If you're in a support role, Ghost Pro is an absolute must because if the other team gets a bird in the sky (Helis, gunners, etc), you need to take it down to support your runners who are all running Lightweight instead.

I've been at the first lvl50 for ~25hrs of playtime now. There are times I'd really like the extra slot but I can't justify losing all my pro perks; particularly because I can only play 1-2 days per week. I typically play with Ghost or flak + SoH or Warlord or Steady Aim + Marathon or Hacker depending on my loadout. I have pro in about everything but 2 or 3.

It took me much longer to get the 5 throwbacks for Flak Jacket. I use claymores a lot so it didn't take me long at all.

It took me what felt like forever to get the sentry gun I needed for Ghost. As soon as I got that I started working on Hacker. Looking back that was very stupid of me since now that I use Hacker quite a bit, I see SGs all the time

Hrm, good call on the TM, I may have to give that a try and work on it's pro. FJ has helped me many a time, particularly at B in Berlin Wall.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, I make different classes for different game types, and use different killstreaks for different game types...

wtf the matchmaking is so dumb sometimes. Why does it think that I want to join a HQ match where my team is down 175-0? Or how about the last demo match I joined where the other team was up 1-0 and there was only 10 seconds on the last bomb's timer?

A quick way to get Hacker Pro is to use C4 and keep some on the B flag as often as you can. I got 10 C4 kills in one Domination game on Berlin Wall doing that.

So I am a bit of a CoD newbie with Black Ops being the first in the series I've played. I grinded out level 50 during the past double exp weekend and have to say I am pretty disappointed in it. The whole time I'm leveling up I was assuming that the prestige level would add more to the game. Now that I look into it it's just for unlocking the extra custom class slots and new player emblems? I have to give up all my money, weapons and pro perks just for that? No new weapons or equipment? That just seems like a huge waste of time to me. It actually bummed me out a lot on a game I was having quite a bit of fun playing online.

There are face paints, gun camos, and special playlists you can't get without prestiging.

And hasn't it always been this way?

No doubt, and thats actually how I found out about it. I didn't bother to look it up before hand because I just assumed there would be some sort of actual progression in the prestige portion other than just customizing the looks of face paint, emblems, etc. As for it always being that way from what I gather it has but I've never personally played another CoD game before this one. I'm not saying it's bad or anything, I did enjoy playing it online but I was just a bit let down that a game that was touted as having a very in depth online multiplayer aspect seems to lack any real depth at all after level 50.

I'm not one to grind out more levels just to have a different icon next to my name or a custom face paint. Even if it was something small like a different gun available in prestige levels or upgrading attachments I would keep playing it. Something. Right now it just feels like I hit a wall and theres nothing left in the online portion for me. I guess part is just me venting because I just bought it last Wednesday and now kinda feel like I wasted my money on it. Ah well though, it will still be entertaining to play online with friends/family.
