$$$ is the reason

For them to run servers when the peer method is adequate for 99% of players is an unreasonable expectation, even of a company as ugly as activision. It's not needed on console, and isn't it already available on PC anyway?

Haven't played the game in weeks. Sick of grinding through prestiges.

Gonna let the excitement build back up and see what happens.

Anyone here play on PS3? If so, add PwnazorusRexx, I am a fairly decent player, sometimes I get absolutely slaughtered, sometimes its the reverse.

Same here, was at 6 or 7th prestige I think and had to call it quits for awhile. Haven't been on in two weeks and i'm starting to get the itch again.

No doubt, and thats actually how I found out about it. I didn't bother to look it up before hand because I just assumed there would be some sort of actual progression in the prestige portion other than just customizing the looks of face paint, emblems, etc. As for it always being that way from what I gather it has but I've never personally played another CoD game before this one. I'm not saying it's bad or anything, I did enjoy playing it online but I was just a bit let down that a game that was touted as having a very in depth online multiplayer aspect seems to lack any real depth at all after level 50.

I'm not one to grind out more levels just to have a different icon next to my name or a custom face paint. Even if it was something small like a different gun available in prestige levels or upgrading attachments I would keep playing it. Something. Right now it just feels like I hit a wall and theres nothing left in the online portion for me. I guess part is just me venting because I just bought it last Wednesday and now kinda feel like I wasted my money on it. Ah well though, it will still be entertaining to play online with friends/family.

So what other advantages would there be besides class/facepaint/emblem or even a gun like you mention? Just curious what you are asking for?

I agree it sucks to lose all that, for me it keeps the game interesting to start over at level one with just the basic equipment and work my way back up. It forces me to use weapons and perks that I probably would not normally use if not forced to.

Oh well to each his own!

I haven't played since before First Strike came out, i'm gonna have to get on there tonight and buy the DLC. I'm just hearin too many good things!

Berlin is definitely my favorite from the pack, and possibly even overall. I don't know how well it plays in TDM, but it's great in CTF and HQ.

Kowloon is okay in CTF... not a fan of it in HQ, though.

Discovery is also okay in CTF, but both flags have too many vantage points for my liking, making it a very defense-oriented map.

Berlin wall is great in domination. The fights over the middle flag are so intense. I don't think it plays very well in TDM though.

+1 to you, sir. The guys I run with mainly play TDM, and we absolutely hate it for that. For Domination it's fun, but really should be pulled from the TDM rotation, or at least lowered in likelihood to show up in voting. It's a giant campfest.

I personally like Kowloon and Discovery the most out of the new maps. You have to stay focused, otherwise you're dead.

Berlin is horrible for TDM. It's a lot of fun in domination but that's all I've played on it so far.

Somewhat agree with this. There are many houses in the back where campers sit there and don't move at all. I still find ways to murk those guys though.

I like all of the First Strike maps, and I have never said that about any of the other map packs that I've ever bought for any game.
I'm not a fan of Stadium. Too hectic, too much twitch-killing. I guess I need to learn to stay in one area and own it. That's generally what I do with Nuketown.

What a shame, you missed the last real good Call of Duty.
I guess I could see that, with the lack of annoying noob/spammy shit like endless nades/danger-close and overpowered kill streaks, but I think BO is just fine with that stuff. If a competitor is steam-rolling everyone, it will be a massacre whether they have nade spamming or ridiculous killstreaks.

I think people forget that COD4 had terrible perks as well. Martyrdom, Last stand, noob tubes, nades x3. Maybe they weren't as bad as MW2, I wouldn't know since I never bought it.

American Gunner has his beer goggles on. COD4 was the best - until BO. People forget about COD4's abuses:

- Frags x 3 = nade fest
- Martyrdom
- Martyrdom (because it's worth repeating)
- Juggernaut
- Noob tube abuse (carried over to MW2 where it got even worse)

BO doesn't really suffer abuses like the past games did. You could make an argument for the RCXD, but it'd be weak at best.

edit - coldmeat beat me to it

I played very little of cod4 mp as well. Was too busy with Gears 2 at the time. Anyhow, it had it's own flaws as well and some of the maps weren't all that great either. Like, shipment and the one with all of the nuclear missles.

Yeah, the maps were very hit and miss. The ones that were good were great, but just as many made you groan.

As others have said, every CoD has its own annoyances.

Cod4 had grenade spam, especially on the PC. Martyrdom made me want to throw my controller at the wall more than any other game mechanic in recent history. Lets not forget that was also coupled with the danger close of its day, sonic boom. Noob tubes were still irritating as shit, but at least without OMA you wouldnt get constantly raped by them.

You couldnt go through a match of WaW without being assaulted by dogs several times each map and getting shot across the map with the only gun people used, the mp40. It also had the trademark treyarch terrible map design.

MW2 has noob tubes just plain out of control with danger close and OMA. And the killstreaks are on a whole other level. The way the killstreaks stacked made everyone so risk averse that even the objective games became total campfests. Despite the fact that on the whole the maps were brilliant and the weapons well balanced and full of variety, a game with noob tubers is hardly fun at all for anyone.

Truthfully, BO doesnt have outrageous imbalances. But they played it so safe, its the most boring CoD in recent history. Most weapons are clones of each other. Most maps are boring without any strong underlying theme and structure. The leveling isnt nearly as fun as it used to be. Everything they fixed by making it more boring instead of a new idea thats something exciting. Any new and refreshing ideas they did have (wager match and theater mode) are shoved off to the side in case they taint the experience IW crafted. Honestly, CoD is IWs baby, and treyarch are still the B-team. They dont seem to fundamentally understand how their own game works, and are afraid to mess with the magic. Id rather play a fixed MW2 than BO, but it'll never happen.

I wonder what IW can do with MW3 since their talent was gutted. Im still holding out hope, but my expectations are so, so low. To think that treyarch is leading this franchise just tells me the end is near.

This. BO really is the best multiplayer COD yet. The only things I would eliminate are RCXD and last stand. The only thing COD4 had going over BO was the maps, but I think BO maps are still very good overall.
