I have read up on it. It still looks too similar. If you like it great but I'll wait until they make a real brand-new game. The way the game has been works which is why it sells so well. They won't change it significantly enough because it's what sells and it's what almost everyone loves. It's still too much of the same.

I never liked infinity ward personally, but tryarch(spelling?) is a very different studio and very successful at what they do. I think while the game might feel similar to MW2, its going to definitely have that tryarch feel. Not to mention zombies...i think Black Ops is going to be a combination of WaW and MW2, leaning more towards the MW2 side of things...but still...it's worth buying...

You're not the only one. But alot of the fans of the series will claim that the 3-4 new additions are huge and warrant a two year development cycle.

just comes down to what you like. I personally enjoy the CoD series and will buy BO too. Sure it might have minor tweaks and not much difference then MW2 but o well. You can say the same thing over sports games, action games, whatever type of game. Why buy FIFA 11 when it is basically the same as FIFA 10 (or 9 or 8, ect)? People do it cause they love FIFA.

The only thing that hurts your argument is that the sports games are developed by the same group year in and year out, and they only have one year to do it. Treyarch had two years to build Black Ops using the MW2 engine, so a lot of people want to see a lot of new items to make the annual $60 worth it, and a lot of people aren't seeing it.

Mostly because Word at War demonstrated that Treyarch is very capable when given a proper development timeline instead of the 9 months they were given for CoD3. Infinity Ward will probably never be duplicated, but Treyarch is quite good.

I do just fine at it, and I don't like it that much either.....

I got it when I was bored and my bro wanted to play spec ops, and I havent looked back once BC2 launched. then Red Dead, now Reach. All better than MW2


red dead for boringish for a while, but the new coop stuff is way fun even wit the classically shitty interface

Good to know that if someone doesn't like a game it's because they suck at it...I got a bit burned out on MW2 myself, does that mean I suck at it? I figured a 2.1:1 kill ratio with over 50K kills and a 2:1 win ratio meant I was at least halfway decent.

Maybe you should spend more time enjoying your games and less times telling other people they suck. I like CoD games, zero doesn't, good for both of us.

I think the excitement really ramped up after the multiplayer reveal, and they showed that they're bringing much more to the table than a carbon copy of the last IW game like world at war was. Stuff like the theater mode, wager match, currency and customization havent been done before in the series. And thats all on top of guns, maps, weapons and perks that we expect with each new installment. There was absolutely NOTHING worthwhile in WaW or CoD 3 that hadnt been done before and better by IW.

I have absolutely no problem with the annualization of the series. There really is a lot to the sports game comparison, but that only a loose comparison, because so much more changes between each version for CoD. Football stays football every year, but the game literally changes far more for CoD.

And the reason I believe CoD is still so popular is not because of anything you can list, but that intangible feeling of a CoD game that few others can replicate. The way the interface is so fast, the way you can get into a game before most other games are even done loading. The super addicting XP system. The ultra responsive 60 fps, the way if you put your sights on an enemy and fire it will hit, even when youre shooting at 1200rpm. Those who get into CoD MP big time really get their moneys worth - that $60 a year is negligible for the amount of entertainment you get for your dollar, and I'm psyched theyre putting one out every year instead of being forced to wait 2+ for each.

And if you dont dig the new version, no biggie....there's still thousands upon thousands playing the last few installments for years to come.
