360, although I doubt its any different on PS3. If anything, the older games are even more broken due to hacking on PS3.

Its actually kinda sad, because MW2 is just a few easy to make tweaks away from still being a great game, but its damn near unplayable and almost totally devoid of any actual pleasure at this point. I'm really surprised that WaW has held up better than even MW1 IMO. MW1 was undoubtedly the better game in its prime, but firing it up nowadays youll realize how much of that is nostalgia from a time past. In its current state, everyone is running around like an idiot with a acog sniper rifle.

Yeah, I happen to have all three map packs so I dont really have that problem, but it was a very big one before I nabbed all three for $5 each. MW1 feels like a more refined experience than WaW in a lot of ways, but its still the more broken of the two. Compared to the last few releases, just taking place in WWII actually makes it the most unique of the bunch. Never thought Id say a WWII game was unique, but there you have it.

I still think MW2 in its heyday was a hell of a lot of fun. For the first few months the entire concept of quickscoping was hardly to be found, youd get noob tubed but OMA/DC wasnt very prevalent. There were the total game breakers like the dual 1887s, care package and javelin bug that were fixed, but they never fixed the true balance problems. Its now a total wasteland of people that have figured out the best strategy to win, and any deviation from that for the sake of fun is severly punished by a sniper rifle at point blank range or a noob tube from 10 miles away. At least in MW1 you can equip juggernaut which basically foils most of the OHK weapons. Oh, and fucking boosters still exist. Seriously.

, but I don't think they should be doled out strictly on the basis of killstreaks. Something more like what homefront did, where a steady positive benefit to your team such as capping a flag gets you a bonus, not just how long you can stay camped in a corner without dying.

there are lots of people that agree with this, all of my RL friends who play COD games really think homefront got the killstreaks 100% correct. we also all like how their are map restrictions on some of them.

Yeah, that would be a massive change for the better. I hope the cod points system also stays in place.

Heh - all I play is Zombie mode. The system and game were a gift, I got hooked into Zombies but am not much of a game player in general. My son plays regular blops though. They could split them into two games but I suspect the Zombie participation would drop off dramatically so I'm happy they continue to develop both

I just wish they'd put a little more effort into the stability of the Zombies platform. Sometimes it takes a half hour just to find 3 other players to play with, then there's the in-game instability. My son and I were on level 26 Ascension with two other players the other night, every player had 25K points or more, I had not been downed a single time, then the connection lagged/glitched and we were all downed, game over. Argh!

The thing I really dont like about zombie mode is those first few rounds. Theyre so agonizingly boring, the game doesnt really get fun for a solid 5-10 minutes. Thats the antithesis of the CoD formula of getting into a fun game as soon as possible. Then what ends up happening is that the game gets overwhelming quick, and youre back to the boring ass start. It seemed like the only way to really survive long was to exploit the game in one way or another, like screwing with the elevator. I guess it might be different if youre not experienced, but theres no difficulty setting or continues or anything that I've discovered. Even horde mode in gears of war had that.

That was what was so great about L4Ds survival mode - youre not meant to survive more than a minute or two, even if youre good. It distills all the fun into a super concentrated little bout.

You do know that the studio formerly known as Infinity Ward doesn't have the same team that created MoH, right? So while IW might make the next game, it is not the same team that made MoH2, 4:MW or MW2.

This. "Infinity Ward" is still there but a huge number of the people who made the company great are no longer there. MW3 will be made by Infinity Ward with help from Raven Software and Sledgehammer Studios IIRC.

This can end up being a blessing in disguise. Treyarch did a great job on balancing BO, and while the old IW might have been too arrogant to incorporate the changes that were made for the better, the new IW might not. I hope the next IW game isn't plagued by noob tubes and quickscopers the way MW2 is, I hope they keep the vastly improved audio, and let us not forget the horrible multiplayer bugs of MW2. Im sure everyone wants the cod points system to stick around, and all the other great things from BO. The loss of the vast majority of the IW leads could mean the beginning of the decline for the series, or it could inject some fresh new ideas.

Really? I fired it up recently, and that thing was a blast to play. I wasn't much of an MW1 player back then as Gears 2 was my game at the time, so I really sucked at it back then. Now that I've played MW2 and BlackOps and I'm decent at both, I was having a blast running and gunning in MW1 which works really well. I won't say much more than that though, since I never even played WAW online mp at all. Co-op only on that one.

Yeah, dont get me wrong, MW1 is still in pretty good shape. Theres a fair bit of nonsense with the ACOG sniper rifles, but you do have a very good counter with juggernaut and its not nearly as exploitative or prevalent as the sleight of hand pro quickscope intervention. Also, the ARs have some sway so theyre not overpowering compared to the rest of the arsenal at all ranges. Still, its not as fun as it used to be when it was more of a "pure" experience, and as you say, its fresh to you. I just dont think its right to say MW1 is the best of the series as many claim...its been surpassed by BO.

MW2 is still a god damn mess though.

Buffy the vampire slayer...haha.. awesome!! I hope the characters aren't just there to fill the void of a good playable map though. 5 (the one with the presidents n such was utter crap).

Purchased the maps this morning and started the download. Can't wait to try them out.
Currently on a 60 game win streak so hopefully can keep it rolling in the new maps.

Well in this case I was playing with a full squad, if I had been playing with random people no way would it be this high. Has been mostly TDM with some HQ, Domination, Demolition thrown in. With a decent enough squad you can walk all over randoms all day long.
