Looks interesting that is for sure. Wager looks fun but i dont know about losing CP. never much of a risk taker personally. As long as most stuff is unlockable through leveling ill be happy. or you earn enough CP during leveling and normal games to buy what you need. I dont care about unlocking every weapon but if i get enough CP just by playing normally to get the gear i want to play with than its fine with me. Nothing pisses me off in being forced to do things just to play how i want to play.

I love the idea of the SAM. How it will work exactly is interesting. Like will it auto kill in one shot? Will choppers have a flare for the first missile? Chance to miss? Reload time? Destroyable by players? Do they have a range? Shoot down UAVs? Can you have 2 or more up at a time?

Bit disappointed in the 3 and 4 killsttreak levels. UAV or RC bomb and Counter and SAM. Actually three isnt to bad. Probably be less UAV's than in MW2. Counter and SAM seems to be just kind of a meh easy to skip level. Neither are overly appealing to me. SAM maybe but its a gamble as if nobody gets choppers or anything its kind of a waste.

Either way i will probably buy the game. I just hope it stays balanced and interesting.

Some more stuff found in videos or read online:

The grenade launcher is one of the most expensive attachments to unlock, at 1000CP per weapon, which is as much as it costs to unlock a rifle on its own. This should definitely cut down on it's abuse.

50 levels, 5 prestiges. You start with 5 Create-A-Class slots, and earn another one each prestige.

At the end of a match, there are now three options to vote for - play the previous map again, play the "next" selected map, or play a random map.

The g11 can be seen at the end of this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUgneJy7QEA&feature=channel

Looks like some crazy sci-fi weapon. To reload it it looks like he switches out the entire barrel...very strange looking.

Also shows AUG and spectre SMG in action.

The very end he also whips out the SR-71 blackbird, which is like an improved UAV. It shows the enemy in real time instead of blipping every few secs, including the direction theyre facing.

Think maybe the SAM was added because of a lack of anti-air weapons? I mean if it takes out the spyplane, I can see putting one or two up on a map. I would definitely like more info on it.

Reading up on the G11 I don't know why it is in the game. It was a failed experiment in caseless ammunition.

I have to say... I haven't really cared about this game, but seeing the video on the 360 did it's job in making me want it. Gun game mode? Sign me up!

Rolling thunder hasn't been shown in any videos I've seen, but I have a theory on this killstreak. I would say it is probably a mix between precision airstrike and stealth bomber given the high kills necessary. Large area hit like the bomber, but multiple aircraft. For reference.

If things work the way I think they do, I might go SAM/Napalm/Rolling.

Playlist Info

We have two gameplay videos from G4TV and GameTrailers as well as some information regarding the multiplayer playlists.

But before we get on with the videos, let start with the playlist stuff! Playlists are the game modes that you join when matchmaking and Multiplayer designer Vahn has asked for your feedback on the Black Ops forums ».

Please note that the playlists and categories below are NOT confirmed to be in the final version of the game. More playlists can change either before the game is completed or through playlist updates after release. Therefore it does not mean that there will be a shortage of Hardcore playlists or any other playlist that you want to be in the game. It's the communities feedback that will help shape the playlists, before and after release. The playlists below are also just playlists and modes that are in the current build of Black Ops (not the retail version) and it may not necessary be the same come November.

Vahn is about to put in the final playlists for launch so he's asking for feedback from the community. But he doe say that "final" just means what playlists will ship in the game and that there's a big chance that playlist changes can and will happen after release.

A interesting note that we can take from his post so far is that playlists are categorized yet again. Modern Warfare 2 just had a long list of playlists whereas World at War had playlists within each category, such as "Core", "Hardcore" and "Map Pack". This gave them the ability to add playlists without having to remove one because there weren't enough space on the list.

The categories for Black Ops are "Core", "Hardcore", "Barebones" and something that they haven't talked about yet, "Prestige playlists".

There are also the Wager Match categories which involve the Buy-In limit and they're not negotiable at this time. The three Wager Match categories are "Ante Up" (allows parties, low buy-in), "Weekend Gambler" (no parties, medium buy-in) and "High Roller" (no parties, expensive buy-in).

Vahn is pretty confident that Team Deathmatch and Free For All will have their own specific playlist while Ground War (TDM and Domination) and Search and Destroy will likely also have their own.

He also reminds us that when thinking about the feedback, remember that you can "vote for any new, last played, or random map/game mode combo IN that playlist" so you and the rest of the lobby players already have "a big chip in this game".

He also mentions that he's not too keen on having one game mode per playlist because it splits players up over dozens and dozens of playlist which also means a lack of variety, a playlist also does not equal a game mode. He prefers playlists that contain a verity of different and related game modes, such as Ground War and Team Tactical.

In a separate post » in the same topic he continues to talk in more detail about each specific category and playlist.

The current CORE category on the latest development build includes:

•Team Deathmatch (12 players)
•Merc Team Deathmatch (No parties)
•Free for All (8 players, no really large maps)
•Domination (12 players)
•Ground War (18 players, TDM and DOM, no super small maps)
•Search & Destroy
•Capture the Flag (12 players)
•Headquarters (12 players)
•Demolition (12 players)
•Sabotage (12 players)
He believes that the above Core playlist is a bit too long and he doesn't like the fact that there is no Team Tactical due to his love for playlists with mixed game modes.

The current HARDCORE category on the latest development build includes:

•Team Deathmatch (12 players)
•Search & Destroy (12 player)
•Free for All (8 player)
Vahn is aware that people want more Hardcore playlists and he's assures us that it will happen eventually but he's focused on getting Core correct first.

The current BAREBONES category on the latest development build includes:

•Bones TDM (12 players, Team Deathmatch, everything disabled. No Perks, Kilsltreaks, Attachments, or Contracts)
•Classic TDM (12 players, killstreaks at 3, 5 and 7 levels like MW1 did)
Yet again he is aware that people want more game modes in the Barebones playlists but that will happen eventually. Before expanding on Barebones he wants to see if it works as well as they hope on and after launch.

The PRESTIGE category isn't implemented yet but it will include playlists that only Prestige users can access. These playlists are meant to tell you that the players you come across will be the best and most dedicated players. It may be similar to the Veteran playlist in World at War in which you could only play against players who have achieved a certain rank and higher.

The Wager Matches are completely separate from the normal ranked matches. When switching lobbies over to Wager Matches you will see different categories and playlists.

The ANTE UP (Free-for-all based, 6 players, low buy-in, parties allowed) category includes:

•One in the Chamber
•Sticks and Stones
•Gun Game
•Sharpshooter
The WEEKEND GAMBLER (Free-for-all based, 6 players, medium buy-in, no parties allowed) category includes:

•One in the Chamber
•Sticks and Stones
•Gun Game
•Sharpshooter
The HIGH ROLLER (Free-for-all based, 6 players, super high buy-in, no parties allowed) category includes:

•Pro Gambler (all 4 of the above modes, you are gambling now so ... it's gamble)
He has also confirmed that the popular "War" game mode from World at War and Call of Duty 3 will not return. This is because it was designed for super large maps with vehicles and that's not something that they aimed for with Black Ops. There also won't be a 3rd person mode because it's a first person shooter.

Remember that the above is not a confirmation of what the game will ship with. There's still over a month of development left and anything can change before the game is completed or after launch.

So have you thought of any feedback? The main feedback that Vahn is aiming for what modes must have their own playlist and what can be combined. Post your feedback on the CoDHQ forums ».

Now lets get to the videos! You can watch the G4TV » video which shows gameplay from each map and you can also watch GameTrailers' » Team Deathmatch montage. Both videos are embedded below for your viewing pleasure!

I wonder how the parties in wager mode will work? Awesome if it just limits you to your party, awesome if it turns wager mode into a team based game, but very not awesome if you alone get thrown in a wager game with parties present. The potential for teamwork will completely ruin the intention of the game, as boosters and cheaters will undoubtedly be there.

At least the other two high stakes modes are party free.

This game is gonna be off the hook, even if it suffers from some of the same issues that mw2 did, those barebone modes save the game for me.

November 9th cant come soon enough

The barebones modes give me some hope. I'm still not sold on the idea of dogs returning, although hopefully they've removed the infinite spawning that made them so powerful in WaW. But if I can play barebones with no killstreak whoring, it might be worth it.

On the other hand, I'm not sure I want to pay $60 for a game if I'm only going to be playing one game mode. I'll wait for some reactions and reviews (actual, critical reviews, not just ones that give it a high score for being a CoD game).

I'll let you know my impressions. I may be a CoD fan but I'm very skeptical of any game with a Treyarch's name on it (and really CoD 4 and MW2 are the only games I've liked). CoD 3 and W@W were both trash IMHO.

From what I've seen my overall impression is positive ATM but there's lots of little things that irk me a bit, and added all together we'll hope they don't spoil the game.

The dogs were only a problem because they were relatively easy to get at a 7 killstreak and when they stacked. So there was hardly a match without multiple sets of dogs. They never did net that many kills but they were SO ANNOYING it detracted from the game.

At 11 kills and not being able to count your other streaks towards that, they are going to be a very rare sight. That goes for all the high level streaks really, even more so with care packages at 5 instead of 4. I expect the killstreaks to be much less prevalent overall, and that's a good thing IMO.

Yeah I don't expect killstreaks to be as crazy. Stacking dogs sounds a lot like stacking harriers and a chopper. I've been in games where I had to wait half the map to launch my stuff.

I think for game mode wise they have it pretty dang spot on for the Core. I would personally add a "most pit" mode that cycles between all the game modes (like HC most pit)

Hardcore wise it would be nice to see the same list as Core. I know my biggest complaint about HC is having to do most pit and having search and destroy come up since i HATE that mode. Yet i like rotating between HQ, Demo, ect.

Barebones seems like that mode some people want but not everyone. I dont care for it personally but others in the thread do. I'd just say expand it after launch if enough people use it.

Killstreaks will just have to wait and see. hopefully they will monitor the game and patch things/change to make it even f something is out of whack.

So far my impression is that they are trying their hardest. They seem to have listened to complaints from MW2 and taken them to heart. They also say what worked in MW2 and expanded on it.

It's MOSH pit, not most pit.

I agree that Treyarch seems to be doing a lot more to improve on MW2 than in their previous attempt. World At War was just a reskinned COD4. The weapons were slightly different but the perks and create-a-class system were the same. If nothing else, at least Black Ops will make significant changes to MW2.

I think the difference is they are making a sequel to an established series, so they already have a working formula. This will basically be MW3, but they can't call it that because it isn't modern warfare.

Yeah, that's what's really got me stoked here. Treyarch seems to be really taking it to the next level rather than just copying IW like they did with waw. Gotta give credit where credit is due - I would have been happy with a reskinned mw2, I'd be excited with half of the new features they showed, but the whole package is gonna be total crack.

The theatre mode is everything you could ask it to be, the wager modes and currency system looks fantastic, the level of customization is through the roof. They're really taking the best parts of mw2 and making them better.

They also haven't talked about it at all, but they're doing crazy things with stat tracking, that I saw in some videos. In game, it looks like there's going to be breakdowns of stats by match type, weapon, kill streak etc - and you can compare them all to friends like 360 achievements. Basically taking the leaderboards from mw2 and just going crazy with it.

I also really like a lot of the balance changes they're making. Removing kill streak stacking is good. So is removing stopping power, juggernaut and danger close. I just wish they went all the way and took out the damn noob tube, or at least limited it to one nade. I cannot stand constantly getting killed by that damn weapon...its so cheap.

The most important thing is that they're not screwing with the feel of the game - it's still CoD as we know and love it.

Actually, stat tracking is one area where WaW shined in comparison with both MW and MW2. You can get extremely detailed information about what you've done in WaW - my favorite features are the heatmaps for both maps and for individual weapons, but you also have basically every stat for every weapon, map, and game type. MW2 has nothing like this so it's nice to hear they're bringing it back for BO.

Blame that one the stupid ipod. I hate when it auto corrects and i dont notice it

I am excited for this as well. I hope they can provide detailed breakdown by map for sure. I would love to be able to see things like KDR and W/L ratios for each map. Be nice if they could show for each game type as well. Would be fun to see say a KDR in a FFA vs when i play Sabotage.

The more and more i hear about this game the more excited i get. Hopefully it will all come out perfect and bug free! I do like the fact they are already talking about adding new things in patches. I just hope they dont get greedy and make them into DLC's or map packs you have to pay for.

I don't know about that, I think there will be an actual MW3 game (although who knows who'll make it). I think that they saw that MW worked, W@W was a step too far back into the past, so this is their "halfway between" game.

And WWII was done too death. I miss the days of being able to spectate as an Admin.

Er, I just found out the servers are rented and are VAC enabled. I guess there are too many dumb players out in the PC market for them not to spoon feed the game. I wonder if they'll kick you for being idle like BC2 and require at least 4 players for the score to count.

How do they expect you to always have 4 players on the server before you bring in the crowds? Bah, I always thought BF were for a bunch of elitist tools anyway.

Amazon has cut off their $20 pre-order credit deal. Wal-mart did the same thing a day or two ago. Pre-order offers are getting few and far between for BO.
