I owned you so hard in that FFA game last night. Ended up 21-11.

yes yes you did, and its quiet expected, ive NEVER played a COD or MW game in the modern era, +its the first FPS ive played on the PS3 ever,

gonna take me a bit to get used to the controller and the feel of the game

would have been on longer but my internet was being really stupid, id play 2 games and then it would drop out, only way to get it back was to power cycle the modem or do a DHCP release/renew in the router.

yet to determine if my router is on the way out of if my ISP is being stupid, kept happening even after i stopped playing and was just using the net

I was just reading metacritic and laughing my ass off at the MW2 lovers hating on the game because there is no commando pro, no stopping power, no danger close, LMAO. This game is a pure shooter, something that has been missing in the CoD series, for a while.

MW2 is still playable, hopefully those assholes stay there.

Nuketown is way too small.

It's definitely chaotic, but it's a lot of fun in small doses. I enjoy it, but I wouldn't want to play it more than once a day. However, I've had my best scores on that map. I went 30 and 3 the first time I played it.

So...the first trip into the Pentagon...was that a cigarette that lady was smoking or a baseball bat?

Anyways, I played the single-player up until the mad NVA rush on the Khe San level. Got frustrated at the part where you're supposed to push the NVA back down a hill and then cut over. Quit because the path was always filling up with enemies and my AI teammates were no help.

Agreed 300%. I got stuck on the same part, and your buddy ai is just too dumb. I had to lower the difficulty down to recruit to get by.

Something pretty crazy happened yesterday--I put the game in, fired it up, went straight to MP (I always finish SP campaigns first before tackling MP), hopped into a game and played some FFA--but before I know it, for a few hours!

I'm shocked at how much fun I had with it all. I played some MW2 MP when it first came out and it just wasnt that much fun. I mean, it was fun enough I guess, but I wasnt very interested in coming back for more despite the hooks the series is known to have.

But there is something about BLOPS MP that works for me and I can quite put my finger on it yet. Anyone else here in the same boat as me? Can you articulate why BLOPS is more appealing?

This is a serious question and not a troll btw.

TDM max team score is 7500...how are you getting 10k?

Don't ask me, when it goes to the summary screen where it scrolls through how many credits you earn and how many exp you gain, it shoots to between 9000 and 11000. I guess doing stuff like shooting down a lot of spy planes, etc, gives bonus exp?

There's a lot of challenges that you can complete pretty easily starting out. I bet you are just doing that and eventually it will slow down a bit.

God damn I remembered why I hardly play FPS's in general, let alone on consoles. My best round was 0.80 K2D, my worst I think was 0.20. I don't get how people can aim so f'n accurately with these things, and worse yet how I can be dropping 5 or 6 bullets into somebody only to have them turn around and 1-shot me.

Still, fun enough.

Probably, I'll keep an eye out or how much I get. Hardline + Spy Plane + SAM + Care Package nets you good amount of points. Since they're all easy to get with Hardline perk and the benefits they give is amazing. In one game, I had two SAMs deployed and the other team called in a chopper gunner or something because ominous music started playing, then a few seconds later it was shot down.

Yes, MW2's MP rewarded good "twitch" players while COD4 and BO reward map control and enemy engagement. You could try to control your engagements in MW2, but if you didn't have the twitch skills to go with it, all your careful planning could go out the window at the drop of a hat - and it usually did. Throw in the constant carnage raining down from the skies, and you didn't have a very serious shooter.

BO has less "randomness". This is due to better map design (MW2's maps lacked flow; BO's maps has it for the most part), much less emphasis on killstreaks (which has already reduced camping), and perks that are insanely well-balanced. All around, it's a slower more "deliberate" game.

It's probably not that they're really good at aiming, but rather being good at predicting where you'll be. When you round a corner, assume an enemy will be there. Assume there's an enemy in that window over there. Know the common routes and assume they're populated with baddies. Keep your reticule aimed chest-high, so when you shoot, you'll but one in the chest, one in the neck, and one in the teeth. For enemies at a distance, consider not engaging them at all (this is MUCH different than MW2). Pick and choose your battles.

It seems the hit detection is messed up as well, several times last night I got the drop on someone and absolutely lit him up at close range only to have him whirl around and kill me in 2 shots...what? Sure it happened in MW2, but not this often.

this happened to me pretty much every single match in MW2 and is a huge reason i barely played MW2.

I got this a lot last night, but I just assumed it was because I was using the M16 (or whatever the default assault rifle is). I seemed to notice a lot of people using SMG's, so I may give those a shot sometime this weekend. I'm really trying not to care about my k/d ratio and just have fun with the game, so this will help me test out new guns and such and see how I do. With MW1 and 2, I honestly stuck with the default assault rifle 95% of the time, as it always worked well for me.

I noticed there wasnt a barrage of artillery from the sky but figured it was because no one had reached a high enough level to drop nukes. BLOPS doesnt have that kind of thing at all? I did see radio controlled cars with C4 and, stupidly, stared right at it as it drove up to me ("awww how cute! hi little fella." <BOOM>)

I'm fairly unexperienced with this type of MP so some of the perks/power-ups are new to me. For instance, it took me a little while to notice I had a spy play available to me that reveals the location of enemies. The first time I used it I felt so ditry--like I was cheating or something.

There is just a LOT going on in the UI for newbies like me. Still, I think I did fairly well.

One of the things I like are the contracts. I only went into the menu twice, but I think the concept is cool. I dont fully understand it though, so here comes newbie quesiton #2: You purchase a contract with something and then it rewards you with something? Is there two forms of currency in BLOPS?

Agreed. Hit detection seemed seriously jacked in MW2. Aside from some shots to the head not counting as headshots, I haven't had any HD problems in BO. Even worse, in MW2, I don't know how many times I shot someone point blank and the shots simply didn't even register.

When I shoot someone in BO, they bleed.

1. Buy the AK74u as soon as you can.
2. Throw an extended mag and a grip on it (using Warlord).
3. Wreck ass.

LMAO! Honestly, those cars (XD-RC) need nerfed. Probably one of the few things that's a little overpowered. Fortunately you can hear them coming a mile away. I've actually dove off cliffs to avoid them. Better to get a suicide if you ask me

There is just a LOT going on in the UI for newbies like me. Still, I think I did fairly well.

It's actually pretty hard to see the lower right corner of the screen... the icons there are pretty low-lit and dull. I've done the same thing... a match ended and I had a Care Package that I totally forgot about.

I dont fully understand it though, so here comes newbie quesiton #2: You purchase a contract with something and then it rewards you with something? Is there two forms of currency in BLOPS?

You purchase contracts with CoD points and can earn CoD points in return. Many contracts also reward XP, which is separate from CoD points. CoD points buy you stuff (weapons, perks, killstreaks, customizations for your character), XP is tied solely to leveling up (and when you level up, you get more CoD points).

well it wasnt the hit detection, it was the net code.

because when i sprayed a full clip into someone, then they turned and fired twice and killed me, i would watch the kill cam.

and yep, on the kill cam, it had me aiming totally to the right side of the other guy and not even aimed on him, then he would hear me and see me, turn, and kill me.
