Hardline Pro - Sam and Care Package pretty much clears the sky of enemy activity while netting me a bunch of points. It's funny watching their transport helicopters get shot down too for 400 points.

I've played the game (some SP and MP, no zombies yet) for a couple of days...but is there any point in posting a review/thoughts yet? Seems like everyone has it already. haha

Not if you're in the same game as me. If I hear there's a spy plane, I whip out the rocket launcher and shoot it down. It amazes me how people don't do this.

It surprises me, too. It could be a little challenging to shoot down air support in MW2 because of how open the maps were and how quickly people were navigating them. In BO, it's much easier to find cover and people are moving more deliberately... shooting down air support is much easier these days.

I've been using the SAM with Hardline and it's been a great asset. Even when I was completely terrible in all of my matches yesterday, I still averaged one or two spy plane kills a match. I think I'm going to go towards Ghost with a silencer though. I figure that staying off people's radar the majority of the time will help me get that extra kill towards a SAM that Hardline helps me with right now, so hopefully it will be a win-win.

Wait till you get Hardline pro. You can then reroll the Sam the same as a care package. An the reroll a better chance to get a higher killstreak. Confirmed by the games data files.

And speaking of the data files, all the info on the guns damage and recoil etc is now know, and it's really disappointing how similar they all are. Within each class fire rate, recoil and reload times vary very slightly. In some cases there are weapons that are simply mathematically better than others - for instance, the commando has a 25% shorter reload than the ak47, everything else is equal.

As far as actual bullet damage goes, all ARs are either 25-35 or 30-40. Which outside of a practically negligible midrange difference, and an extra shot required at distance in hardcore, the damages are identical - 4 shots at distance, 3 close up. MW2's weaker ARs were 30-20, which translated to 4-5 shots without stopping power.

Same basically goes for the other classes, all the damages are nearly identical. I guess it's easier to balance everything by basically making everything the damn same.

Now that I unlocked the 2nd launcher for air targets only i've been shooting down everyone's carepackages, it's hilarious.
I purchased the Stoner6 and holy shit that gun rocks with sleight of hand pro.

I honestly don't know what to tell you. It really relies on getting a feel for it and acting on instinct. The gun battles are over quickly and any strategy with aiming needs to come from experience without having to think.

Meh, it doesn't really bother me. The majority of players have always gravitated toward accuracy and low recoil weapons... M16, M4, ACR, etc. There may have been more variety in the stats in MW2, but it was really hard to justify using anything other than the uber accurate ones. Seeing as how you're staring at your gun all the time, I like a little visual variety.

Regarding aiming: use a shotgun or noob tube or rpg.

M16, M4, ACR, etc. There may have been more variety in the stats in MW2, but it was really hard to justify using anything other than the uber accurate ones. Well I did think it was a bit odd while I was writing out my impressions that every gun had about medium recoil, fire rate and reload time. I personally always enjoyed having lots of different toys to play with, even if some were more difficult to use like the F2000. there was always a reason or two to prefer one weapon over another in mw2, and everyone had different reasons. I'll probably enjoy using the ak47 quite a bit less now that I know it's a commando with slower reload.

There's no reason the weapons have to be this similar other than sheer laziness. Theres no technical barrier here. It's an odd, lazy design choice to make them so similar. What's the point of even having so many weapons in the first place then?

I would have to disagree. The primary reason is balance. People thought COD4 was unbalanced, WaW was unbalanced, and MW2 was unbalanced. Out of the gate, one of the most positive reactions to BO's weapons was how nothing was overpowered and nothing was really a "go-to"/"must-use" weapon.

Can it be balanced through more creative means? Sure, why not... but no one's succeeded at that yet (and previous CoD games haven't even come close), and at this singular point in time, I'm more interested in having fun than trying to innovate weapon balance at the cost of having yet another cache of weapons that only have a small handful of usable choices.

CoD 4: M16 / M4 / P90
MW2: ACR / M4 (two virtually identical AR's, mind you)
BO: Take your pick

what does everyone like in perk3? im trying hacker out but i havent found anything really good in that slot.

I use ninja. Even though some people think it's useless I just like having no footsteps. Sometimes the way the sound works, my own footsteps sound like somebody is behind me and it freaks me out. Hopefully ninja pro helps me audibly locate people better.
