Call of Duty Ghosts Impressions

These resolution comparisons in reviews are kind of silly.

1080p looks better than 720p? Well, duh. There is a massive difference between 1080p and 720p. We can all fire up a PC game, switch between 720p and 1080p, and see. Yeah, 1080p looks way better, no shit.

The bit about the framerate drops is interesting though.

Well on a game yea it can be a difference but on a big tv if you are watching a show or something, most people won't be able to tell.

Been playing a bit, it's okay. More of the same, some annoying BS, some nice changes.

There is definitely some hacking going on. I had heard about it mentioned in some YouTube videos and came across one example last night. I ended up in a Domination lobby with an insane score limit. Each team's score was around 6000-7000 points (200 is the normal limit) and the score bar at the bottom left was maybe 10% filled. A few players were calling in a lot of kill streaks, but their scores weren't insane (90 kills). I ended up quitting after a while, turns out I was host and hopefully I snatched the power button off in time to kill their session.

Anyway - onto some questions:

1) Does anyone know exactly what perks you get per kill in Cranked? It looks to me like Agility (lightweight), Sleight of Hand, and maybe fast ADS (forget what it's called). Do you get Extreme Conditioning too? I'm thinking it would be worthwhile to setup a class with all the other good perks and leave the speed perks off since you get them with a kill.

2) Does anyone have a preferred way to keep handle of multiple class setups? I don't even have the other profiles on my 1st soldier unlocked yet, but definitely need more setups. I miss the x10 class slots from BO2.

I'm thinking I will unlock a soldier to use in each major game type (TDM, Dom, Cranked, etc). That will probably work better than trying to do all in a single soldier anyway, as it will let me unlock different perks earlier (like Blast Shield) and pick a better starting loadout.

Oh, and ditching CTF for the abomination that is Blitz sucks. The best moments in CTF is when both teams have the other team's flag and there's a standoff. No more

I cannot believe CTF is not in the game at all. I am still rather pissed with the whole 3 games in hardcore. Add your new game modes but leave the orginals. Every time I play, the amount of people playing the new game modes is almost nothing.

In Cranked, I'm not sure about Quickdraw, but I know you get Stalker which allows you to continue moving fast while aiming down sight.

so is it worth getting Ghosts? i'm on the fence about it. i loved the multiplayer in MW2/MW3 but hated the feel of WaW and BlOps.

If you like CoD then Ghosts is worth getting. If you like shooters but have never played CoD then Ghosts is worth getting. If you don't like CoD then you won't like Ghosts. It's a very good game by any measure.

If you liked MW2 and MW3, you'll probably really enjoy Ghosts, too. Same pace, same approach to map design.

As it was mentioned before if you like cod games, you will like it, if not then you probably won't enjoy playing this.

Cod has been the same for years now. What's to suck about it, I mean it's the same exact game everywhere with some changes to mp maps, and themes, gadgets, and gameplay modes. So they made it a little tougher to level up, I still think its the same game.

I didn't like black ops 2 single player but I played mp because it was the same as the rest lol.

What do you play? I have more BS spawns than I did in BO2, but nothing horrible in TDM or Domination. Fast-paced modes like FFA and Cranked will by nature have wonkier spawns.

I unlocked a second soldier to use for Domination (LMG, Blast Shield, etc). It's kind of annoying that previous perk/weapon unlocks from other soldiers don't carry over, yet you have to use from the same pool of squad points. So essentially you will pay for EVERYTHING over again for each class.

They're too stingy with squad points and XP in Ghosts, IMO. Takes a little too long to rank up.

I'm having a hard time leveling up in this game. Had the first gun still and I'm only level 8.

FYI re: Cranked
It looks to me like you definitely get the following perks: Extreme Conditioning, Agility, Stalker, Sleight of Hand.

You do NOT get "On the go" (reload while sprinting). I've built my class around that and it seems to work well for the most part. I think I still prefer an SMG (MTARX) over an AR. Definitely silenced - without it you get too much attention.

I agree it just sucks when you're confined to about 1% of the equipment and perks for so long.

I've been using the sao 120 rifle for a while now. I think I finally made it to level 9. But still can't buy a better gun. I've finally got sleight of hand, and I also use the elite perk since it gives you a random perk each spawn. That, with faster reloading and the unlimited sprint is ok.

Biggest issue with me is where I spawn. Always with someone's gun behind my head. That or I seem to get killed a lot while running. Seems like those that pick me off have not really been moving. I'm not good at this game, I was a lot better at mw2. But that was because I was able to set up a really nice class. Not sure how powerful of a weapon you can get in this game.

You mean like a zapper rifle ? I picked one up from a drop package and it's an electric rifle. It didn't seem that powerful to me. I think the mtar is pretty good but it's a sub machine gun.

Spawns on the small maps in fast-paced game modes (Cranked in particular) are awful. Spawns in FFA are very hit or miss in general. FFA on some of the large maps is just ridiculous. I hope adjust which maps are selected for FFA; playing it on Flooded is just ridiculous.

Probably my least favorite map of all is Strikezone. There are almost no lines of sight and it's very small, so there are no good places to defend unless you camp one very small area, which is no fun. Plus everyone's going to for the Field Order KEM Strike. Hell I got KEM Strikes on that map in FFA the other day and *still* won.

My 360 is officially unplugged. I'm going to trade Ghosts for something else. Not even considering it for my PS4. The series has officially run it's course for me. I dont fault the devs, theres just nothing else to do here.

I played like 10 minutes of single player and I could tell the story was just going to get nuts like black ops 2. I dunno what they did with the story in these games anymore. They used to be interesting.

There's way too much sound whoring and camping going on in this game and 6v6 on the large maps is just boring. When it's 50/50 in a tdm, and the clock starts going, there's just a problem with that. Matches are taking way too long when everyone is just sitting around waiting for people to walk by.

I wish I would have played it at my friends before getting it on the PS4. I would have chosen something else. I guess I am finally tired of the COD gameplay.
