Call of Duty Ghosts stuttering on my PC

Today I purchased Call of Duty Ghosts and it's stuttering on my PC. My stuttering I mean frequent hitching in the frame rate. I'm using the latest drivers for my video card. Running at 1920x1080, vsync on, 4x MSAA, everthing else maxed out. Would upgrading to a GTX 780 FTW or GTX 780ti or upgrading to a 6-core CPU solve the stuttering? My system specs are:

i7-4820k @ stock
16GB DDR3-1600
4GB GTX 680
512GB SSD
Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit

D:

Please don't upgrade for this game.

The game just came out, I'd wait for a patch or two before blaming your system. Even though the game is running on the same old tired engine, there might be issues.

It might just be a matter of waiting for a game Patch or updated Driver.

I'm thinking about upgrading to a GTX 780 FTW or Ti anyways and selling my 680. I play other games as well that could use better performance. I played about 15 minutes of the Campaign so far but I'm going to stop playing this game for now and play my other games and maybe in a few weeks to a month get back to this game.

Total biscuit also mentioned that performance in COD ghosts is horrible, and he has Titan SLI. The game is screwed - i've actually experienced in game-slowdowns as well. The game is a horrible unoptimized POS.

And upgrading a GPU for call of duty? After having played it for a couple of hours, it looks like something straight from 2008. I had an initial positive reaction but after playing for an extended period, it became clear that the graphics basically suck. Which makes the performance issues all the more confusing.

Just another broken ass game on release. So many games have been bad for the last few years, I just don't get why they release them in this state. They should be embarrassed.

It doesnt effect sales, so they figure its OK.

I can't wait for the consumer rights on digitial products to get implemented in European law, when that happens its not going to pay to do this anymore, because people will just return the game for a full refund. The end to this service contract rubbish on something that is clearly a product needs to happen soon.

That bit in Red, lower it to like FXAA.

I vote upgrade, and you could donate the 680 to your good buddy gorcorps... then I'll donate my 570 to somebody else, and on and on and you'll be the founder of a chain of kindness radiating through AT

I use to think the free hand of market forces would prevail, but I am actually thinking regulation might be the way to go.

Agreed. Other than that I am running a 770(680 revamp) and pretty comparable specs to you and it runs well no stuttering. Juust completely disappointed by the graphics quality. BO2 looks heads and tails better than this garbage IMHO. Was so looking forward to phenomenal graphics only to be bitterly disappointed. Have every COD ever made for PC but will now boycott IW made crap.

From watching YT videos about the game it seems to be a common problem related to the game itself. As others have said. Needs patching.

Just chipping in to say that it does seem to be the game. My rig is very similar to yours and I can't get it to run without stuttering regardless of graphics settings, which is just terrible considering how bad the graphics are. I can run BF4 with everything maxed (except the resolution scaling) at smoother frame rates than I get in Ghosts with everything turned down to the bottom.

I am a pretty anti government type of person, but i do agree with your sentiment. It happens because we have no recourse. While i hate to admit it i do hope they implement something to keep the aholes from doing this to us.

Well, involving the government might not be the way to go here. We must vote with our money. Stop purchasing bad games. Fuck, if government starts passing regulations where can it all end. Remember those idiots that claim that games make killers, and such nonsense.
Keep the government paws off my games!

I am talking more about consumer protection from faulty products that deal with software (like games).

But i do agree with the hands off approach.

A friend told me to lower the CPU priority to normal in the task manager while the game is running. Resets to High after re launching. First game I've seen do this and not sure why. Helps a little but it's not the silver bullet.

I was just coming to post the same thing. I finally got frustrated enough to do some googling on the issue and found this site http://www.gamefront.com/cod-ghosts-pc-low-fps-lag-stuttering-crash-fixes-tweaks/

Some unofficial fixes for a number of issues there, but the one that helped me was:

Currently, Ghosts will stutter when set to “High Priority” — alter the settings with these steps:

Open Task Manager (TaskMgr – Ctrl+Alt+Del).
Scroll and find iw6mp64_ship.exe
Right click on iw6mp64_ship.exe, then Set Priority: Normal.

Select the CoD : Ghosts .exe and set priority to normal to help fix FPS performance issues.

Completely fixed the non-stop stuttering I was dealing with. I still occasionally have the game lock up for a second or two, but it only happens every 5-10 minutes generally. Annoying, but at least the game is playable now, and I was able to turn all the graphics settings back up.

Minimal effort to port to pc, blame pirates for poor sales, stop patching after 2 weeks and offer any new fixes and contents as DLCs.

Sounds about right?
