Call of Duty MW3

I bought it. Pre-loaded it but haven't played it yet. Might hop on later or I'll play with it over the weekend after they patch out any bugs.

Reviews have been solid for the game.

The other shooter game I'm interested in is CS:GO. Waiting on the beta for that.

I played MW2 for 175 hours, loved that game. But burned out on it, will not be getting MW3 as a result.

BF3 and Skyrim should be more than enough to keep me going for a good while.

Where have you seen a review for the PC version of this game? Metacritic compiles all reviews from many different sources (both magazine and online) and it doesn't show a single one as of 11/8.

I actually didn't check to see if it was for PC or not. I looked at a few of the articles on google news while at work and they were all positive. I browsed through the IGN review but it looks like it's for the 360 version. Read a little about it on the subreddit for the game but I don't think people were commenting specifically about console/pc version.

Yeah I don't put much faith in user comments over there. Bunch of raving jackasses from what I've seen. I've been waiting for anything from the professional side of things but so far nada.

Did you notice steam forums are down? They went down before it released and have been down since.

Do you think they went down because they don't want people writing terrible stuff about the game and ward off possible buyers? I got a hunch they did.

Yep. Typical. And pathetic. People complain about how consolized some PC games are, but then they go and bash the game with bullshit reviews and spread lies. I have to think one of these times the dev or publisher will just be like "fuck it" and we won't get the game on PC at all.

I haven't played MW3 or followed it much at all. But I did play MW2 a lot and a bit of BO on PC and witnessed the same crap all the while playing a game I thought was quite good and without all the supposed problems the idiots whined on the forums about.

There is a review on Gamespot for the 360 version. It is overall quite positive, but I put less faith in Gamespot reviews than I used to.

They dont mention the PC version at all, so I still wonder how the performance and graphics will be.

After the scandle of someone getting fired for giving a bad review of Kane & Lynch, I don't even bother to read their reviews any more.

I believe Valve had their servers hacked...might explain why the forums were down.

All I keep reading about is how the PC version is somewhat borked in favor of consoles. The whole reason I'd buy it on PC is for the graphics quality - otherwise give me my comfy couch, 54" Plasma, and 5.1 surround. I mean really ... somebody tell me there is a good reason to buy this on PC.

I think on the PC you might be able to disable the music for MW3 (at least for sp) by renaming the miles folder to "dismiles" --- have not tried that yet though to see if it works. But that would be a big plus for the PC version (assuming you want to even bother with the sp portion of the game).

I know, that's what I keep hearing. I started the modern FPS w/ COD4 on a PS3, then moved through the chain on a 360. This is the first time I have a gaming rig capable of running a current gen FPS - so for me its probably more ignorance is bliss.

Does it run well? Yes.
If you liked MW2 you'll like this.
If you liked Black Ops you'll probably like this.
Over 60,000 people at any given time seem to agree with me because that's how many people are playing currently.

There's many many reasons to play BF3 on PC. But truthfully if you have to ask then you probably don't really care about them. Having dedicated servers that can set their own rules plus a server browser that can filter by anything is enough of a reason to go PC in my eyes.

When I can get a copy of MW3 used for cheap (~$20) on console, I'll go thru the single player just for the story line. This was pretty much MW/MW2 for me once and then it pretty much collects dust. For multiplayer, BF3 is where it's at with my gaming style and eye candy.
