Looks like the next Call of Duty installment might be returning to its roots. The only good one was #2 because it had reasonable depth to the level design and many maps could be completed with multiple paths. It too was set in World War 2.
The rest were average to mediocre. In particular, everyone raves about MW1, but I thought it was awful. It was nothing more than a 3 hour interactive cut-scene packaged as a "game".
Also its sequel MW2 was generally a snore-fest, especially the neighborhood/diner levels.
I don't have high hopes for this one but perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised.
