When considering people in active ddiction, I would agree 100%, but we're talking about people who have already put the drugs/bottle down. Communing together allows us to share our experiences, and benefit from the strength we all share. It gives us people to talk to when we are tempted to use; people who understand our plight, not people like you who would just tell us to 'tough it out'.

i can just imagine how a conversation between two of you guys would go:"man id give anything for a bud right now" "yeah me too bro but ya gotta stay strong" "maybe if we just had one...you know of any bars around here?" "yeah man lets go, theres one around the corner"

it reminds me of the the time i went to traffic school and a bunch of the people had gotten dui's (that wasnt why there were in traffic school though) and all they did was talk about the happy hours at the different bars around town for hours on end. that was all they had in common. instead of helping each other they were telling each other how to fall off the wagon.

Ahh, i see now, and yes I understand completely. Although I do believe in the disease, I don't necessarily ascribe to the 'a drug is a drug is a drug' philosophy of NA. If I abused heroin/opiates for years, but can count on one hand the amount of times I've been drunk (and I mean truly drunk--wasted, I've been to the bar for a little buzz quite a few times) am I still addicted to alcohol as well as opiates? If I want a glass of wine with dinner and a beautiful woman, is that gonna end with me shooting dope? I think not...

I was addicted to MJ for almost a year. After I went a week without it, I finally kicked the hankering I always had for it. It is amazing what smoking that shit for months on end will do to you. Poor sleep quality, forgetting where I set my keys after I set them somewhere five minutes ago, becoming very anti-social...etc, etc.

I'll probably try it again someday, but not for at least a couple of months.
