If all goes well then tomorrow I'll be getting a ps3 and was wondering how you guys are enjoying yours. Is it worth $600. I know hardware wise it is and was wondering more about the use your getting out of it.

Already had a wii and wasn't impressed with line up of games. The wii was awsome just wasnt big on the games.

you need to take advantage of the 50% Blu Ray movie sale at Amazon...

Text

if you are hooking it up to a 1080p TV, you won't be disappointed (my jaw still drops at how good the picture looks on my set)...

and for all you sony haters, Blu Ray is killing HD DVD...the numbers this year were already bad for HD DVD, but after the Casino Royal sales are counted, it will become even more embarrassing for them.

It will get even worse when Pirates of the Caribbean 1 and 2 and Cars come out on blu ray only in a few months...HD DVD won't have anything that even comes close...

There should be some blu ray coupons inside the PS3 box that give you $10 rebate a movie for 7 different selected movies...some of those movies are on sale at Amazon so you might end up being around $10-15 for those titles...

I used my coupons on discs that i bought with the google checkout deal back in december ($20 off a $50 purchase) so I got a heckuva deal on those movies...

and if you hook it up to a HDTV, make sure to purchase the additional HD cables that don't come with the Blu-Ray player!

honestly IMO Wii has a better game lineup than PS3 does (exclusives wise) at the current state and time.

but in the future, it could turn around.

you mean an HDMI cable, something you can get a monoprice for around $10-15??? or maybe the ps2 HD cables which you can use on a PS3 for around $15-$20???

Xbox 360 w/ HD-Dvd is 579. So as a movie player and game station, prices are all but equal.

I had a 360 a while ago and although it was a great system it just got bored to me after a while plus shelling out money to play online everymonth along with wow it started to get expensive. With ps3 and wii having free online play I would rather stick with one of them. I just couldnt get into the kid games that that wii offers right now. I want some online shoot em up fun.

if you didn't like the xbox360 for it's current line up ... you won't like the PS3 for it's current lineup.

games that are on both Xbox360 and PS3 look better on Xbox360 and have better online play, and that is about 75% of PS3 games.

if you think it's worth $720 to play resistance and motorstorm, go for it ($600 + $60 + $60). otherwise, you should atleast wait it out for the games, because there really isn't much.

the online system on PS3 is a joke at the moment as well. and i find it funny that you have problems paying $3.85/month ($50 for 13 months) for the xbox live service that allows you to play any game online with very simple ease, yet you would spend $600 on a PS3 and pay more than $10/mo to play just 1 single game.

I have the 20GB system. Get that one. The only advantages of the 60GB system are bigger hard drive, wifi, and memory card slots. 20GB is plenty (and you can always upgrade later), memory card slots are pointless (you can use a USB flash drive for the same affect), and wifi isn't worth $100.

I've had the base system for about 2 months now and I love it. Resistance is awesome. I've also got Madden and Fight Night, obviously 3rd party games, but still great. Motorstorm is just coming out, I played the demo, its one of the most fun racing games I've ever played. Not to mention exclusives on the way like Metal Gear and Final Fantasy.

When people say "theres no games", they're forgetting that it took a full YEAR for the XBox 360 to have an exclusive worth buying. PS3 has been out 5 months and already has two.

Not to mention FREE online play means the lifetime cost of the system will be way lower than the 360. It will be improving drastically over the next year as well (and remain FREE).

edit: oh yea, blue ray > hd-dvd in terms of number of movies that will be out there, and if you're taking this into account, 360 also costs $600 (premium system + hd-dvd add on)

You're comparing launch games to games for a system that's been out a year. This is a marathon, not a sprint - anyone with half a brain knows that the PS3 is more powerful, and games will eventually look better. And you're completely wrong about the PS3 online system being a "joke".

I dont know...sony has made a lot of mistakes...and I am still not a fan...but I think in the end they will pull through in a decent way. When they get some good games out, the online thing worked out and blue ray takes off i think they will be fine. Right now tho...they dont have many good games. Motocross was fun tho!

If you want a blue-ray player deff get it.

read my bolded statements. i'm talking about RIGHT NOW. I'm not talking about at the "end of this marathon". The OP wasn't asking about whether or not the PS3 will have good games in a year or 2, he's asking about the games RIGHT NOW.

and the reason I'm comparing launch games on the PS3 to games in the 2nd generation of games on the Xbox360 is because that's where the consoles stand RIGHT NOW.

The only reason people keep saying "PS3 will be good in the future when games come out" is because they wanna justify their $600 purchase when even they know at the current time there is nothing worth that $600.

Dude, you're forgetting that we're not telling the guy to time travel back a year to pick up an XBOX 360 and games. The fact that it took the XBOX 360 a year to get good games (in your opinion, mind you) is irrelevant as the guy wants to buy a system (and preferably the PS3) now. Also, based on this argument, you're telling him to buy games that won't be out for 3-6 months.

So let me get this through to you, the fact that the XBOX 360 has been out has no relevance at all. Yes, it's a 100% fact that it's been out, no one's arguing with you on that. But the state of both consoles is the current state... we don't CARE if the XBOX 360 didn't have that great of games at the same point in its life like the PS3. What we CARE about is what we can get NOW!

EDIT: And to elaborate further, if the PS3 gets any good games that I want, I will get it THEN (I'm liking that caps bold thing).

EDIT 2: Haha, it looks like purebeast0 is also a fan of the BOLDED CAPS .
