I think what happened with the ones in my front yard was the mom had the babies a few weeks back when it was warm, but then we had quite a spell of nasty winter weather and they died.

Poor buggers!

Goat's milk through an eye dropper.
feed them, do not put them back outside unprotected.
Later, either keep them or set them free somewhere.

First of all, a female rabbit will pull its own hair out to make a soft nest for the babies. (hence the hair)
Secondly, now that you've handled the babies, there's a pretty good chance that the mother, if still alive, won't accept them. Depends on the particular rabbit and how many litters she's had in the past.

If you decide that you're going to use the eye dropper to feed them and keep them alive, don't. That's more likely to be far more cruel than simple euthanasia... Those bunnies look like they're no more than 3 days old, possibly younger.

I raise rabbits... (although, I'm getting out of it - too much trouble, plus my wife won't let me eat them, which is weird since Ophelia, our former pig, is taking up half of our freezer.) Sometimes a new mother (first litter) won't nurse her babies. When that happens, every rabbit breeder I've met has told me the same thing: feeding the babies with an eye dropper has a high failure rate, particularly for people who've never done it before. Ultimately you end up prolonging their inevitable deaths and causing them needless suffering.

Best thing to do would have been to leave them. You can try to see if the mother will take them back. If she doesn't, then the nicest thing you can do for them is get a bucket of body temperature water, and put the babies in the water (to drown them.) They'll just crawl around on the bottom peacefully until they drown. (been there, done that.)

I don't mean to sound callous, but it's really not worth the efforts to keep them alive. If you do something that results in a happier outcome, I'd love to hear back from you. Good luck.

I dont think I could do that to them. Wife did some searching and we have cotton tail rabbits. As mentioned they did say if I have to take care of them to use the kitten milk replacement stuff.

My wife and oldest son went and rebuilt the nest away from where the other one was, not too far from it though. We really hope that dog leaves them alone and the sticks are moved so we know the month has come back to feed them. Will keep an eye on them and update when I can.

Aww, poor little bunnies Did you look around the area for the mother?
Please don't let your dog go around the nest, don't want them to be hurt.

The good advice is often the hardest to follow. I tried to rescue a sick baby bird recently. It seems I had forgotten the hard lessons from the farm.

Me too, bunnies are so damn cute
Going to check out the nest later to see if mom went to it last night to feed them, or if the dog found them and they are gone, or just dead.
