Reggie Bush is at least a somewhat servicable player. I think he wants to do well and work, I think he wants to be part of a team... I think he was just picked about three or four rounds too high. Cam Newton seems a lot like the JaMarcus Russell type, just wants the money, but does not want to work hard or care about much else.

Agreed, that's why I said he'd be a combination. Lazy and entitled like JaMarcus, and a cheater like Bush. He will have his Heisman taken away, bet on it.

But who knows, he might be a decent (though not 1st-round-worthy) player like Reggie Bush. He'll hang around for a few seasons before washing out.

I'm not quite sure why the author of the OP's linked article thinks these personal observations are invalid. We've seen too often how trouble making types can cause real problems on an NFL team.

I also think this guy will be a bust in the NFL. Unless some team puts in a very special tailor-made offense just for him (no reads, no audibles etc) I don't think he sees much playing time. IMO, you stick him any of the regular offenses he's going to flounder.

Assuming he can block, I like him much better as a T.E. He could give some great match ups on the inside (too fast for LB's) or the outside (too big for CB's).

I also doubt that he's the 1st QB taken in the draft.

Reggie Bush is a bust in the sense that he's not worth anywhere near what he's paid and has never come close to living up to the impossible hype he gained while in college, but he's no where near a bust on the scale of JaMarcus Russell or Ryan Leaf, Bush is at least an average NFL player, not a complete failure.

Newton is better off than Russell because his athleticism will probably at least be able to buy him some success much like how Vince Young hasn't been a complete dud.

Although he's worse off than Bush because the QB position is far more demanding.
