Who cares about racing history and records when talking about production vehicles. Do you seriously think that your Audi street car will hold up to racing? I doubt it...there is very little similarity between the audis you see on the track and the one in your driveway.
I have never owned an Audi, but as you may know, volkswagen is Germany's "econo box" manufacturer...so audis are basically expensive econo-box cars, kinda like Mercury is to Ford. A lot of older cars will last many miles as long as you perform routine maintenance on them. I had an 88 Toyota MR2 SC with over 250K miles, and I used this car for drag racing quite often. The engine had perfect compression, and the car ran perfectly and powerfully till the day I sold it.
Performance? Show me a FAST Audi...I have yet to ecounter one. Some guy on the audi forums was braggin how he was gonna dump $6K into his A4 and end up with 230 HP... Dump $6K into a WS6 and you got an 11s car with outstanding handling.
All the Audis I've seen have fairly bland, cookie-cutter sedan styling. The TT looks like a Beetle that wishes it was not gay.

<< What record? Quality? Reliability? Performance? Style? Racing history? My family has owned no less than 11 Audi/VW vehicles, and all have been exceptional. Let me ask you this: Does whatever car you drive have well over 300,000 miles on it, with No major mechanical work done to it? Probably not. And I still love driving that 17 year old AUDI. If you think Audi's record "sucks", well then you are simply misinformed >>
You are either a liar or officially the luckiest family in existance.. they are NOT known for their reliability and I wouldn't even trust one to get me from A to B. amazing what personal experiences do to a person. >>
