LOL - funny seeing riceboys come in here bashing GM's interiors when any decently fast 1/4 mile Honda is stripped of all it's interior to help it lose weight. "Oh damn I had an extra pen in my pocket...I bet I'll gain another 1/2 second in the 1/4 mile"

Better yet, let's add "hi tech" stuff to our primitive pushrod V8...Like 4 valves per cylinder and DOHC...NEW stuff like that. Oh wait, the I-4 that powered the 1920 Ford Model T also had 16 valves and DOHC. Doh!!! Scratch that one.

Oh wait, how about we add some variable valve timing...THAT has GOT to be high tech, right? I mean, there is no way that any stupid american company would be able to come up with something as ingenious as VTEC or VVTI...oh wait...that has been around for a while too...it's just that Honda started referring to it as VTEC, turning it into a selling point...kinda like saying "this car has i-UBBS, intelligent Ultra Ball Bearing System, which reduce friction and make it go faster".

Front-wheel drive handles better than RWD? Is that so? Then why don't we see more FWD F1 or Le Mans racers? If it is so much better, why not use it? Is it because FWD is just a cost-cutting measure that manufacturers started in the 70s during the economic slowdown, and had nothing to do with improving a cars handling? In reality, FWD actually worsen's a cars handling by putting too much work load on the front tires. AWD? Yeah, AWD is ok if you are off roading...but that's where AWD stops being beneficial.

I could go on and on...I've heard it all, and I love schoolin the ignorant ricers. Then again, maybe it's better that they continue believing what they believe. Then you can race them for $$$ and make some quick cash.

<< In Kronk's voice from "Emperors new groove" "Oh... Riiiight *winks*"

Dude Have you seen those new Corvette's, it takes a 10 point turn if you want to make a U turn on a 4 lane street! Eh maybe one day us slow americans will develop IFS and 20 years out get the ballZ to make a car with IRS too :Q

I don't know what that other dude was talking about when he said the interior of GM cars sucked. Is he saying that the Honda Civic's interior IS that much better? Or is it just that it doesn't come with indiglo white-faced gauges.

Why the ricers feel a need to put 20" or bigger rims on an econobox is beyond me. Looks better? If they say so... Handles better? Maybe if they "cut" their springs to lower their phat ride...and when they're done, the car handles a lot worse than it did stock. heh heh

My raceweight is full...I don't remove anything from my car, and I won't. To me, weight reduction is just as ghetto as using NOS...it's like a crutch that is employed to make up for what the car lacks in performance ability.

<< OMG, LMAO!! Man that was a total gut buster... oh so true These guys crack me up, my best friend and I were checking out some kid at a test N' Tune getting ready for HS drags... Had his panels removed... I was like wow, got to save those 22 Oz's

I don't get that either tho, they will litterally tear their entire inside to a shell, Hell I race with my spare tire on, Tool set under the backseat, laptop monitoring the computer for tuning.

Off the top of your head, why does SOHC suck so much more than DOHC? There's such thing as SOHC 4V/cyl engines, what do you think of those? They probably suck to you since it's not as sophisticated as DOHC.

yeah, but SOHC with 2 valves per cylinder is pretty ghetto. (to me)

for a practical difference between SOHC and DOHC compare the mustang GT and the Cobra. or the old SOHC vr6 with the new DOHC vr6.

I don't get why 2V per Cyl is "ghetto", for the most part they make more torque and don't provide any performance barrier when you start working the engine...

Don't worry, it's ok. He didn't even know what SOHC or DOHC meant until he dug around howstuffworks.com, give him a month or so to digest the info so he can then tell us why 2V per cyl is "ghetto".

riiiiiiiight... maybe you can show me where the stuff that i wrote can be found on howstuffworks.com. i linked it for your ass fool. you show up occasionally, make a flaming comment or two, then take off. why don't you contribute something and blessus with your knowledge?

as for why 4 valves are better than 2, i'm not really sure, but i think it's because their more efficient and they can rev higher. sure, two valves might make your torque, but while "torque will break your neck, horsepower wins races."

  • I'll tell you what's "ghetto"... YOUR ENGLISH! Good Lord!
Edit: Oh, and it's, "Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races." Lug nut!

<< Thats based on car prefrence choice, in a small/light car HP is all you really need, once you break into heavier cars Torque is very needed. >>

of course. which is why i don't get into truck discussions. especially since we all know that diesel rules.

an easy hit?
yeah totally seeing as they really are sh!tty interiors...

a sh!tty interior is a sh!tty interior.. why do you refer to it as a cheap shot? I already stated for that fact is the reason i refuse to buy a General Mistake car... it's not such a small deal dude, it's fvcking lame!

it's not much better outright bashing the ricers, i have seen my fair share of sub 10 second civics, supra's, dsm's, etc... ANY car would require some heavy mods to get to that speed, so none of the V8 praise against this statement please. - all cars can be fast. whether it be weight savings or engine modifications, etc.

Again I like to say, Don't get me wrong, I love my Neon, I love Japanese cars and I love Camaro's and American muscle.. but I had to say those couple of things... Peace.

Actually, I've been pretty actively participating in this thread since I found it. You seem to be the one posting a short sentence post and running off...but whatever.

More valves basically means the engine can breathe better at higher RPMs...OHC configuratings is less prone to valves "floating" at higher RPMs, but LS1 pushrod engines can easily rev up to 7000 RPM with upgraded valve springs...in any case, the LS1 is making more TQ and HP stock than any current stock ricer engine. Who's gonna be winning those races??

Ohhhh yeah, there's A LOT of 10s civics and DSMs running around Philly. Phew!!! I feel so slow in my TA.

And actually, you don't need to do "heavy modding" to a Camaro or WS6 to get them into 10s -- and they will run 10s totally NA, that means no nitrous and no supercharger or turbo. With riceboxes, you need to feed the wittle baby engine with a bottle, and you need to blow it good with SC or TC. At least with V8s you have the option of remaining NA and still being fast.

Well I have a question for you, do you have a Mullet? If you do then get either of these cars, they are both the same. If you dont, then get somthing else. But seriously, what do you plan on doing with this car? Do you plan on just driving around a looking good? Or getting into the 12's?
