Ya, 11.44 @ 122!!! That's very fast. The SS looks manual (slower vs. auto in 1/4 mile assuming no Michael Schumacher) and looks bone stock.

MD.

lol... michael schumacher isnt all that great at launches off the line in his Ferrari... i think you meant tony schumacher

it's all just anal personal attacks with you isn't it? don't have anything to do but show how honda is better than everything and when someone doesn't go along with your little world you resort to name calling and practicing medicine without a license.

you know what would make this thread complete? a video of that same camaro killing some guy in a bone stock integra GS. the 4 door model. it would be about as worthwhile.

who is the one that is butt-hurt here, you got all defensive up when i pointed out what was going on and that this video is a non-event. seriously, if i wanted to watch a canned race i'd turn on nascar, at least there's the chance of a huge wreck. i mean, am i really supposed to be impressed by an 11 second car? do you see me regularly posting threads about a 'precious camaro' killing some car? no. obviously, if someone here has a fetish over a car, it's outersquare

lol...you would rock at parties....

just imagining you ranting after the heineken runs out makes me giggle.

When I read the summary I thaught : isnt that clear from the beginning - but then I saw that it is about those childish accelaration "races" - oh well.

BTW it is obvious from the video that the Camaro driver messed up the start.

Actually, they're much better than you'd suspect. 0.91 skidpad. You should ACTUALLY drive one and try it out.

MD.

A skidpad says absolutely nothing about the handling of a car. with a rigid axle u simply will have a bad handling car due to load change reactions when switching from a right into a left turn. A camaro simply has to much unsprung weight around, long overhangs and a bad weight distribution all things that do not make a good sports car - but hey it is cheap in that aspect it is good...

Notice how the NSX dissappears there at the end? It's riding into the sunset, where it belongs.

Who cares.

Take 100 hp away from the NSX and it would still beat the Camaro around a road course.

Driving in a straight line is so - boring...

Same old crap that's always spewed by the ricers. It's been shown time & time again that F-bodies handle VERY well, and are a hell of a performance bargain.

95% of a Corvette at 1/3 the price.

It's amazingly easy to have other people do your research for you

Thanks!

Exactly what I was going to say! How about a modded NSX vs a modded Z06. I think that is a little fairer. Next are you going to post Yugo vs Camaro, and surprisingly the Camaro wins. AMAZING!

It would be no contest. The 5.7L v8 has a lot more power to be squeezed from it than the 3.2L v6 in the NSX. Honda's pretty much milked it for all it's worth.

We've seen what highly tuned Corvettes can do (Lingenfelter.) They can go in a straight line so fast, you can barely see them.

A Ferrari 360 CS would own the NSX in the twisties, and the straights. Oh, what's that you say? The Ferrari costs twice as much? Hrmmm....

All theories aside, the fact of the matter is that a stock F-body handles quite well. Not as good as an NSX, but good nonetheless. A modified F-body handles exceptionally well. These things clean up the track in SCCA races regularly. A live rear axle is actually suited quite well for operating on a race track with no surface imperfections. There's no change in wheel camber when turning due to body roll, something that affects almost all IRS cars.

Yeah, that was called for.

I don't really care much, this video is in circulation for Honda fanboys. "Oh look how bad the NSX owned the Camaro, what a piece of american trash..." That said, the NSX had a badass run and the SS probably had a combination of problems to run that time.

The truth is for every 11 second NSX, there are at least 10 10second LS1 based cars. And thats an extremely conservative estimate.

OK, it took me a while to find but here's an article for you guys.

Article
Track Map

To make life easier for you I pulled the data & sorted it by lap time:

Vehicle Lap Time (seconds) Slalom Skidpad
Ferrari 360 Modena 127.65 67.4
Corvette Z06 128.39 67.1 1
Ferrari 550 Maranello 129.25 62.8
Porsche 911 Turbo 130.73 67.8 0.96
BMW Z8 133.3 62.3 0.92
Acura NSX 134.15 62.1 0.92
Mercedes SL500 136.05 60 0.8
Camaro SS 136.46 60 0.87
BMW M Roadster 137.28 63 0.89
Porsche Boxster S 137.46 65.6 0.93
Honda S2000 137.66 65.9 0.9
Mercedes SLK320 140.87 63.6 0.88

The SS in stock form holds it's own quite well, especially considering the price. No, it's not going to handle as well as a 911 or NSX. But it's a hell of a bargain and a VERY capable car - both in a straight line AND in the "twisties" that you haters are so fond of talking about.
