Isn't this a really hot deal if they get them back in stock? I thought these got great reviews, especially when compared to the Bose equivalent.

I bought one for a mother's day gift a couple years ago. I tested it out before giving it away. I was really impressed with the sound quality.

the sound on the model 88 radio is awesome. when you factor in the price, it blows away the Bose waveradio in terms of value.

i bought one for my parent's store (in the lobby area) and many customer have commented saying that they thought it was a full sized stereo.

I ordered and today, my order status changed from backorder to partial backordered. Doesn't make much sense since this is the only item on the order. Also, the price has gone up to $159.99 (even though they still don't have any stock yet).

I jumped all over this.. I ordered one when they first came out and it was worth every penny of the $300 I spent. I got one for mom and guess what? They've updated the AM reception. It now comes with an AM external loop antenna (my version had poor AM reception). I don't see anything on the web about this update.. Sure wish mine had it. I tried to order another one from Outpost but I couldn't find it.. you can't search for it but it looks like the link still works. I ordered mine Dec 9 and it arrived Dec 29. For $160 I ain't interested in another but if it drops back to $100, I'll jump and give my old one to a family member. I dont know why people won't place an order if something isnt in stock.. I mean if you're building a computer and NEED a part thats one thing but can't you wait 3 weeks for this to arrive?? for $100?!?

For those with a Fry's nearby, these occassionally show up in their ads for $99. Not right now, but keep a look out for it if you are interested....

Wife wanted the bose wave cd radio for xmas, I also read around how cambridge had a good radio (740 cd player) so I ordered both units, side by side had xmas guests give their opinions on sound and looks,

hardly anyone heard of the cambridge but all knew the bose, the rest is here to view

(unofficial no audio testing equip used, just blind listening tests).


I realize the radio listed in this post isn't the same as what was tested but if I could find the old 88 for $100 I would scoop one up for sure...

nice page, I myself was looking at both those radios and personally the price of the CS unit is more attractive but the looks IMHO suck compared to the Bose...I am in no rush but in the end it will come down to what my budget it and how I think they sound when I am ready to buy...I have also heard others find the CS units performance to be better or equal to the bose but that was the older model.

yeah the reason I ordered both was because I had heard both sides (pro bose pro cambridge) and both had recent new models (bose new improved wave radio & cambridge new 740 radio) and since both had free trials I figured I would let my ears be the determining factor...

Wife and I both agreed 100% after hearing them side by side (same cds in both units as well as same radio stations both units), the cambridge sounded much more FULL and rich sound wise...

Anyways those are the test results, hope they help someone who might be wondering...

Nice review. Thanks for posting it.
I've always thought Bose are overrated, but they really know how to market their products. Also, they've been way ahead of the pack in making smaller high quality products which fit more easily into any decor.
Cambridge products, on the other hand, tend to be lacking in eye appeal.
