Fry's specifically states that deals at their website and deals at their stores will be different, all prices are based on location. So I highly doubt they would price match

I know the wattage seems low, but CS is actually honest and rates their product to their USEFUL wattage, not their maximum. Trust me, they're loud.

As for comparing them to the PC Works, they're about the same sound quality and loudness (due to them being flat panel, the midrange is a bit weak, but you have to have trained ears to hear that ).

got my slim500's today and just wanted to say thanks to Fritzo...

after I plugged 'em in for a demo, 4 of the guys in my office asked me AGAIN how much I paid for them and where I got them... then skuttled off to buy themselves a set

I've been looking for decent speakers w/ a sub for cheap for a while now and this is an Awesome deal!

Just wondering...

I'm going on vacation soon and planning on taking my Rio 100 along with me. I like to pack light so what I usually do is buying a set of cheap multimedia speakers when I get there. However seeing that these sattelites are so slim - is it at all possible to hook my player directly to the speakers, not through the subwoofer? Thanks.

Just wondering. Since these don't have headphone jacks in them, how do u guys plan on using headphones if u ever want to? I just use headphones a lot and i'm wondering how would I accomplish this feat. Switching back and forth between speaker sets all the time or something?

Rarely use headphones, but I actually have a second sound card for headphone support (I just switch sound cards in the Sounds section of Control Panel when I need them for vid conferences or whatever). You can also get an inexpensive 1/8" jack switch from Radio shack and switch between the speakers and headphones. That's probably a more elegant solution.

Nope....the speakers use RCA jacks and plug into the subwoofer for power. Don't think it would work.

For headphones just buy a splitter from ratshack for less than $5 - leave the headphones plugged in and when you want to use them turn the power off of the speakers.

I got mine in the mail today...my wife was at home...

Trust Fritzo...these are plenty loud! The sound quality is pretty dang good. Maybe not Klipsch or Z560 quality but they are definitely good. Excellent bass.

Thx for the suggestion Fritzo and Jahwren. Just a quick question... since I am using my onboard epox sound card (but i'm planning on buying a new one that supports 5.1 soon), if I purchase the speakers and the switch jack thing, do I have everything I need? I've never heard of those jacks so I'm not exactly sure on what i'm doing. Sounds like a plan though, so I think i'll order these now

all the splitter does is insert a male 1/8" stereo into the speaker jack from you sound card. the jack splits into two and at the end of each strand is a female 1/8" stereo jack. You plug your headphones into the one strand and your speakers into the other one. Your headphones always get the signal and you just turn off your speakers... like JahWren said... it's really, really, really not complicated... dont' make it harder than it is

you will have everything you need with this setup.

You can just buy a splitter cable (make sure it's stereo) and that's all you need. For a more technical solution, Radio Shack sells a switch that lets you change the output from your speakers to headphones with the press of a button.

Are these speakers magnetically shielded? I want to place the Subwoofer on the ground approximately 3 or 4 inches away from the computer, will that cause any kind of interference or problems. Im very tempted to jump on this but I think there is a 5 piece creative labs speaker set for around 41 dollars on one of the search engines...ahh decisions.
