My friends parents moved away to Texas leaving their house in LA empty. So I'm renting out a room in the 3 bedroom house. One of the bedroom is locked because the parents still intend to come by every so often and stay for visits. So that leaves another empty room. Plans were made to rent it out early next year to a relative of theirs.
Now one of the parents other son, the older brother of my friend, lives in a storage room that's been renovated to a studio right outside the main house. He's pretty isolated socially and there were several incidents including him pulling a gun on his own brother (another one that came to visit from TX) because he was causing too much of a racket at 3AM. I get the feeling that he hasn't been happy since I'm paying $400 for practically the entire house (since no roomie yet) and he's living in a renovated storage room.
So I came home today and found a car parked in my spot. Came up to the house and I was told I have a new roommate. At this point it looks like the brother living in the renovated storage room found a friend and moved him in without consulting ANYONE. Now he of course didn't have to pass anything by me, but I don't think he even told his parents or my friend. And he could also have at least told me ahead of time without having to come home and finding another stranger living on the other side of the wall next to me.
His parents are coming next week to visit again and they'll find this new roommate. I'm gonna be in the middle of this family drama. I guess it was too good to be paying $400 for the whole house for more than 2-3 months
