Hope you're not going to cook it all in one sitting. Thats a LOT of cholesterol. Break it up (if you can amd prepare it in 1/2 lb (or more) sections. Why not marinade and grill on skewers?
Asians typically don't fry shrimp...and if they are you can just eat the shells too.
Think of it this way: Does chicken taste better when cooked with or without skin?
I'd probably deshell them and grill them. Perhaps, fry up a few as well.
Asian people continuously tell me that cooking their shrimp in the shell gives them move flavor, to which I laugh as they deshell fried shrimp... Ain't nobody got time for that.
And by Mexican shrimp, I assume you mean something other than Gulf shrimp?
I've yet to buy any great frozen shrimp. Freezing kills the taste.
You buy live shrimp @ $29.99/lb? Or are you just referring to the defrosted shrimp at the supermarkets?
No, I haven't found great supermarket shrimps. It lacks the sweetness and the intense flavor of fresh Gulf shrimp. I pay about $8/lb for my shrimp. I buy 40-50 lbs at a time direct from the source. It's usually that day or the previous night's catch.
Were you responding to me? I said "skin", not "shell".In the shell is always better. Only lazy/clueless Americans want it shelled without heads.
False. I have yet to see an Asian fry shrimp outside the shell and 100% of the buffets I've been to and pretty much every Asian restaurant that wasn't a sushi place has at least one fried shrimp dish with the shells.
And, chicken tastes better with the skin due to the high fat content of the skin, plus the skin being actually edible.
And, good luck making shell shrimp in literally any dish that is mixed together and not eating the shell.
Think of it this way: Does a banana taste better with or without the rind?
I mean unless you live in NOLA or Santa Barbara I don't even know where the fuck to buy fresh shrimp unless it's live SB prawns, and I aint ballin enough to buy $30/lb shrimp.
Pretty much any where in the S.E., especially near the coast.
sugarcane might be hard to find but that's entirely possible.
Who cares? Your liver produces a lot more (~1g/day) cholesterol than you are going to normally ingest and can vary said amount in compensation. Dietary cholesterol - for most people - has negligible effect on total body cholesterol. Of course, eating 4lbs of anything isn't going to be good for you.
I'm going to throw another vote in for scampi.

So how to get the liver to produce less cholesterol without gobbling down statins?
Don't be a fatty, exercise, and don't smoke.
give it something else to do. Like break down ethanolSo how to get the liver to produce less cholesterol without gobbling down statins?
