No thanks. I'd rather not practice what poor people in China do, as they don't know any better.
cool - I've never made shrimp/sausage gumbo before, sounds even more promising now.
As someone who has had a lot of gumbo, it ain't worth it. It just isn't that good. I've had all the "famous" crap in NOs as well the "bayou master secret only momma knows the ingredients". It leaves a lot to be desired.

2) It's simply labeled "mexican wild" but from a high quality purveyor. Since I bought it through amazon fresh, I did not get a chance to ask the purveyor the provenance of the shrimp.
Most people I know don't eat the shells. I do cause I'm either lazy to remove it and once the shell is gone, all the seasoning that was on there is gone.
I don't know why Asians cook it with the shell.
