Camera Hacking

I recently purchased a new Logitech Traveler, in the few days that I have had it hooked up interesting things have been happening.
Its a combo digital/pc camera.
The software package includes live web cam and motion activation.
I hooked it up to a fresh install of Windows, I connect to the net through a Linksys Router using DSL.
Since this camera has been connected there are times when it will start automatically, I have checked all the options and I dont have it configured in to start on a time delay etc.
Anyway, I did a netstat -a and traced IP's coming up with a link to AOL, which I assume is ICQ, given the port used, and also had an odd IP in time_wait.
Has anyone else had any odd happenings with cameras that sit in a standby mode ?

nope. however i always point it towards the wall when i'm not using it, just in case.

Since you say a fresh install, I doubt this is the problem, but it's something that happened to my sister. She had one of those little Creative webcams and somehow got infected with Back Orifice. The guy took control of her PC and was able to look at what her webcam was looking at and tell her what she was doing and what clothes she had on even though the webcam wasn't broadcasting. Freaked her out pretty good. Took me a good while to walk her through getting that thing off her system.

Perry this was the reason I did the fresh install, it happened a couple of times previous to the install, I just didnt think too much of it at the time.

I always tell my girlfriend that when the red light blinks on the camera that it means that the camera is "self cleaning" itself and not to worry. She always wonders why the camera tends to self clean when she is dressing and undressing. Yes, she has very blonde hair!

Well they are out of luck if they are looking for skin but they are more than welcome to watch me cook for catering jobs, if thats how they get their jollies.
