Campaigns: DPC and AT - is the MF impressive? I think NOT...

With so many 'distributed campaigns' currently running, I can't help but to look at AT stats in all the other areas we are involved in. If we didn't dedicate our resources in so many areas DPC should be Very AFRAID!!

Very impressive stats below - AT members make it happen, and I'm very proud to say I am one of them!!

OGR-24 #1 - 4,023,883 GNodes
OGR-25 #1 - 3,324,089 GNodes
GammaFlux #1 - 2563039 Wu's

RC5/64 #2 - 396,958,823 Blocks
SETI -#18 (Clubs) 2238457 WU 319.81 years (Humm, didn't see DPCs here for some reason..)?

--LANMAN

BTW: This isn't to mean the DPC's are doing a bad job. Actually that MF is quite a task to flush that many wu's. BUT, given the CPU power that AT is dedicating toward other areas, I have found that it isn't all what it's cracked (haa..haa 'cracked') up to be. I'm sure AT could be doing MF's also if we dedicated our resources.

I would venture that if all TA resources were put towards RC5 we could be doing around 2,500,000 blocks every day and not just now and then on a megaflush.

Everyday could be megaflush day if we really wanted it to.

Wow! I should pay more attention to the other projects. This is one damned awesome group we have here.

If TA started putting out 2.5 Mil a day Dnet would have a fit.

On the other hand if the SETI,OGR,and GF folks joined in. We could split TA into two RC5 teams and the best the DPC could shoot for is 3rd place.

Then we could just alternate weeks(or months) having everyone do SETI/OGR/GF/RC5.

Actually GF and OGR are the only ones that TA are first in - funny as they are not the most popular from what I see in the forum.

I have seen several posts on Dnet complaining on mass flushes, or if a team had the capablity to do mass wu's per day it again they (Dnet) would complain. Why is that? Do their servers suck?

That would be it yes
Dnet is a kind of 'volunteer' project, so they do not have all the latest equipment they need for the job. Luckily their provider is providing them with some extra bandwith and a free CPU (I've heard, but I can not be sure offcource )

I think that if all TA's would join forces on RC5, they'd have 5M per day, at least. Maybe there is some freak that could calculate that for us?

Edit: If dnet would just put some (more) banners on the statspages, they would have those brand new alpha, sun etc. servers running in about a month... (if evereybody here is a statsfreak like me, at least )

OK, I'll venture to make a guesstimate of how our totals would stack up if everyone were doing RC5. These are all rough estimates, and the S@H one is pretty much a guess. But here goes...

People from OGR-24 - 5.23M blocks
" " OGR-25 - 4.32M blocks
" " GF - 3.84M blocks
" " S@H - 335.77M blocks

OK, now these are all crude and based mostly on my estimates from a P3 500. They take into consideration the following...

For OGR you do about 1.3 RC5 WU's / GNode.
For GF you do about 1.5 RC5 WU's / GF WU
For S@H you can complete about 150 RC5 WU's / S@H WU.

Anyone feel free to come up with more accurate conversion units, but I can't hardly take into account how well different cpus do in each of the different projects.

Anyway, that's around 349M blocks that we could have had if we were all working on RC5. In other words we would pretty much double our current output.

Whoever guessed we would hit 2.5M WU's/day wins the prize .

amok: There is almost no OGR-24 activity currently. Most stubs currently are OGR-25. There is some overlap between OGR-24 and 25, but currently the overlap is very, very small.

Boy, that would be really fun to 'roll' thru each project with massive power for say a one week period of time. I sure would hate to run all those machines down to change clients. :Q

It would sure be fun though....

viz

edit- according to Amok's numbers, we have almost as much power doing SETI as RC5 :Q I didn't realize that!

And the thing about S@H is we dont have near enough production to get to the Top 5 in our one category!!(as of now) That's not even counting teams like SGI, SUN, etc.

A5, we can help you guys alot when RC5 finshes (gona take a while I guess).

Meanwhile, we are having the same problem U are (not enough members cracking).

RC, I was going by total output. The above figures are the amount of blocks that we could have received if the people that did OGR-24 would have stayed with RC5. Because I was using totals it doesn't matter whether or not anybody is doing it anymore.

I was surprised by the S@H numbers as well. Some people may find a more efficient method of determining the overall S@H output, but that's my quick guess.

Boberfett, you will have to look elsewhere for the prize .

Hmz, if 2,5 M is a good guess, that's not very impressive, I think. Especially when you consider that a little team (that's what DPC would be if all TA's joined forces) like us will do 2M every day after MF6.
Right?

Edit-> too many typos

Ruben: <..that's not very impressive..>

Is there something I missed here???

Dnet servers can't handle what we could throw at them!!

becouse we *hate* (not really, but searsching 4 aliens is useless ..) Seti (at least, the real tweakers ) we all flush 4 D.net ....

[/NOT A FLAME MODE !!]
But i still not think you will defeat us, even if everyone at Anandtech would flush (ps, that my opinion .. becouse i don't know how many people visit the site )
