I've driven a new Malibu. It doesn't even compare quite honestly.

yeah, i remember those days when maximas were cheap like that. right after the altima came out they dropped in price to almost match the altima. [almost bought one. decided i didn't need a $400 car payment. in the long run, going with a cheaper car with a cheaper payment is going to cost me more as my car is a POS and i really want to get rid of it. i'd have probably driven a maxima into the ground.]

that's a pretty rare situation, however.

Yep, I got $5k off msrp and 1.9% financing on it. I'm still driving it! I'll keep it even after I buy my Lotus.

You can still find deals like this occasionally. The 2006 Infiniti G35 sedan can be had cheaply as the newly redesigned 2007 model is out now. You could probably pick one up for a few grand off msrp easily.

Yeah, Nissan almost killed the Maxima when they released the Altima. It's funny, a comparably equipped Altima actually cost more than the slightly more upscale Maxima in 2003.

the 2003 altima was supposed to be the new maxima, after all.

ghosn did what was readily apparent to everyone who looked at nissan: put a 4 cylinder in the maxima to compete with camry/accord.

Not everyone can get fleet discounts or have a family member who works for GM.

I disagree. I think the Camry and Accord have gotten much better looking over the years, although neither is my first choice in that segment.

I think the Camry has gotten better with age. Old Camry's looked like boring bland family sedans. The new Camry I noticed is a headturner for some people, something it never did in the past.

IMO, the 07 Camry should be revised to look like this.
Original version at top right.

The Accord looks fine from the rear but the front is too pinched looking with the miniature grille and headlights.

I love the 1992 Honda Accord design.

Every now and then I'll see one in mint condition on the road.

That looks like the Saturn Aura's twin which has gotten exceptional reviews in its segment.

Seems like Chevy has a winner on its hands. About time!
