I bought an APC ES350VA Battery Backup cheap. It's to underpowered to use on my computer. Could I plug in my TV so that the settings to not reset during a power outage?

The ones that are sold for TVs are often the same design as for a computer. For example, Belkin sells one that is very similiar in spec with the exception that the computer one interfaces with USB. They actually recommend using a battery backup with a rear project set that uses a bulb (DLP and HD-ILA/SXRD).

Yes.
I bought some used rack mount UPS that I keep connected to marine batteries that power the pc, tv, stereo, etc.
I wanted really long run times, I live in hurricane country

Yes. high inrush currents can blow UPS's, so no motors, hair dryers, hot plates, drills, fridges, A/C units, etc, and it will work just fine.

What kind of TV? (CRT, LCD, ???)
How big?
Check the label on the back, what's the listed current draw?

My concern off the top of my head: If it's a CRT, it'll have a degaussing coil, which is likely to receive a pulse of electricity at power-on. Higher quality units will have more powerful coils. If you would turn on the TV while it's running on backup power, that will likely be too much for the UPS.

I had a lovely 21" Nokia monitor (Trinitron tube), and its degausser was very powerful; my 1250VA UPS complained about a brief overload (just when running off of line power) whenever I happened to use the degauss function.

My TV says 250w and the battery backup is only 200w.
I don't want to run the TV during a power failure, but only so the settings aren't erased.

It's a 37" Plasma TV.

You'll be fine. Check your battery from time to time.
