So to be clear you want us to willfully forego aid to lives threatened or ruined by a natural disaster in order to limit their political contributions in the future? That's both terrible and stupid.

Also, quick question: who exactly do you think I'm shilling for here anyway? I'm genuinely interested!

He'd reduce us to beating on each other with rocks if he could.

... conservatives from southern states (even Texas, lul) were against disaster relief for Northeast states during hurricane sandy?

Both Cruz and Conryn were against relief for the Northeast now they want handouts. This is bullshit. Fuck Texas, imo. I think the free market should sort this one out.

you partisan piece of shit, that is 100% not true. care to back up your ridiculous statement?

Shame Cruz and the others but vote for the relief. We may have to lower ourselves to their level in many cases in order to be competitive in elections, but this is not one of those cases. It's disaster relief.

Quick google away

https://www.google.com/amp/www.lati...harvey-aid-sandy-vote-20170828-story,amp.html

Now disclaimers:
Sandy aid had other stuff attached and I believe at least some of the no votes were about the other stuff however we don't know what will be attached to this aid package yet plus we don't even know if the no votes would have approved a straight up Sandy aid package without any other stuff added

Did they vote against Sandy Relief, or against a bill that had things beyond Sandy Relief?

Both really. Cotton came right out and said it about the former. The rest hid behind "fiscal conservatism".

FWIW Chris Christie just now called the TX congressional members hypocrites on TV re: Sandy aid vote.

Given the overall productivity of Congress lately I'd expect any Harvey bill to be laden with a bunch of non-related spending that has bipartisan support. Probably far more than the Sandy bill had.

The answer to the question posed by the OP is a simple one. Because you support redistribution of wealth. Stand up for what you believe in.

I would say 'basic human decency'. You're absolutely right that those conservatives from the south who voted against Sandy relief are terrible, immoral hypocrites. It's hard to see how letting people suffer and die in the states they represent as a lesson to them to vote more intelligently in the future makes you much better than Cruz and company though.

I know it's satisfying to see people suffer consequences for their shittiness, but this is literally people's lives.
Sith Lords don't think like you do.

You mean how Cotton said he would not support the bill because it had more than disaster relief, and that was hiding economic stimulus which would "bail out the northeast"? Was there something else?

That is not the context I recall him saying it in and it wouldn't make sense anyway since quite a few items in the bill that were not directly Sandy related actually didn't benefit the NE at all.

So you remember something about Cotton not wanting to support Sandy relief directly? I could not find it and I looked through his name and sandy relief.

You might not want to harp on "dishonest" when you enthusiastically support a President who tells obvious lies virtually every day. You love dishonesty; you thrive on it.

How about funding for the people, the victims of this storm and flood, but we should reconsider funds for rebuilding Houston in its flood plain.
Are you also going to suggest the same for areas like Phoenix, Nashville, Memphis, St. Louis, Louisville, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Charleston, WV; places where more predictable seasonal storms cause as much damage?

A large majority of US cities are located in some kind of flood plain.
