Hey everyone...
Kindof an odd question. I was transferring a lot of files from one system (Win XP Laptop) to another (Win2k Server Desktop) today to free up room on my laptop, and after a while, the file sync utility started having errors occur that it couldn't copy files. Each time, it would be able to copy about 3 files, and not the rest. THen immediately after it was done, I'd try it again, about another 3 would successfully copy, and not the rest. So forth and so forth. Eventually it got to where none would copy, either with the sync utility or just copying in Windows. I also couldn't copy from a third computer. I tried even zipping up a file that wouldn't copy, and that wouldn't copy!!! So I got pretty frustrated.
Now, 10 hours later, everything worked fine! I haven't restarted any of the systems since I tried last. Nor have I made any changes at all. And the only thing I can think of is that the hub that connects the 2 and the broadband was causing proiblems.
The configuation is I have 3 PCs and an Xbox connected to my Resnet T1 connection through a Linksys 5 port workgroup hub (it's a hub cuz I got it before I knew what a switch was). The hub is sitting on top of my server, which is a nice hot running overclocked Duron and a kindof cheapo powersupply in an antec case. The hub is kindof warm to the touch.
So I am just curious if hubs can overheat and/or cause these copy/connection problems.
THanx in advance,
Jazzman
