>.< I dont see how i scored so low, anyone know what the problem might be? I updated to the latest omega driver, and saw no improvemnt. Heres my specs:
AMD 3200+ winchester
1gb pc3200 (512x2) (Corsair value ram..)
HIS radeon x850 xt
Foxconn NF4UK8AA-8EKRS Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra Mobo

Ive asked some other people , and they suggested that i update my BIOS and that would fix it. Well im not really too sure on HOW to do this...i just put the new .bin on a floppy and boot from it, right?

If thats not the problem, anyone else think they might know what's wrong? Thanks

And also, i even get artifacts when not playing games, some times on my desktop (my whole screen turns into the purple checkerboard) but that doesnt happen too much, only about 3 times.

MIght be an overheating issue. Check your temps (CPU/System and gfx card under idle/full load (full load beeing the most important one)

Also I didnt see what kind of PSU you were using.

When i built my comp, my mobo suggested i use a 24 pin psu, but my case came with a 20 pin one. The mobo manual says i can use a 20 pin one but its not reccomended. its a generic rosewill 400 watt psu. Dont think its over heating..since the card has an artic cooling hsf and its generally at 35-38c when its not on load, but it gets to 40-55c when im playing hl2 or cs:s.
My cpu seems like the temp jumps all over the place, in everst home, under the heat sensor catagory, the cpu temp changes between 38c-126c (yes, 126c) , like it would be at 45c at one point and around 3 seconds later it would go up to 126, then the cpu temp just dissapears, and sometimes the comp reboots it self after that.

Hows the voltages? Are they fluctuating or are they stable? I also use the 20 PIN one with no problems. I got an antec supply though... Quick question. Did you plug the 4pin cable in?

There is a square one that plugs in seperately from the big 20 pin one to the mobo, it is CRITICAL that this be plugged in, it sounds like you are starved for power...

Ah, i know what you're talking about. ive seen it on other psu's but mine didnt have one...So you think getting a new psu will do the trick?

And also, you're talking about the one that goes into the same slot as the 20pin plug right? Thanks guys.

No, not always. The PSU must be ATX 2.0 Compliant. Additionally it depends on the implementation. You can use a 20 pin PSU with a 24 pin motherboard. While the other is recommended, 20Pin is just fine.

What PSU are you running right now? I dont think this is a PSU problem unless it is really really crappy.

DO NOT plug in that 4 pin plug! That is an ATX 12V connector which is completely seperate and supplies power directly to the processor.

I would invest in a new one, ROsewill is a generic newegg brand. What price range are you looking at?

Well, any good psu will do. My price range would be about..say..50-70 dollars? So its the power thats causing this, right?

If you can go just a little higher on your price, here is an excellent PSU for $83 shipped:

Tagan 480W

SATA power leads, PCI-E power lead, high 12V rail. I have it and it works great!

Check out the Newegg reviews here.

Alright, thanks. Sounds like its a great psu from the reviews. So you guys are sure its my power that causing this? I dont wanna have to go and buy a new psu and see little to no diffence..even though my psu needs a change anyway (I was gonna get guild wars, but if a new power supply would fix up my card and rig, ill get a psu)

Well, I'd first go into the bios and check read outs on your voltages, notably your 12v rail. If it's way below 12.00 then there is definitely a problem. I suspect that is the problem, since as others have said Rosewill is only an average psu which isn't really built to run high end proc's and videocards. A low 3dmark score and those other symptoms could definitely mean your card isn't getting enough power.

Also, what videocard did you upgrade from? If it was Nvidia, definitely make sure you wiped all traces of the driver from your system, because it can cause conflicts with the new ATi driver.

Ok, ill go check the voltages in a second. And it was a fresh build, only card ive used in this system besides the x850xt is a 9200 se which i put in after i tried out the x850xt, but i didnt install the drivers for the 9200 at any point.

That 12V line definetely looks low. Just for peace of mind I'd go with a quality PSU.
