Can anyone help please?

I noticed a comment on another thread to purchase a new bios chip for a somewhat major problem and was wondering if I should as well...

My situation is not at all the same... I've put together a system for my kids and ended up using a Compaq mb and I really just want to get rid of the "COMPAQ" flash screen that pops up when the thing starts... is there some way to edit the bios to remove or change it? My foggy memory thinks it remembers this is possible, but danged if I can remember where or how?

Can any of you young whippersnapers help an old fart keep from embarrassing himself?

(mb is from a compaq 5310 and is stamped TR100)

I searched the compaq site under..... Presario Support and Drivers/Customer Communities
I did a search on "delete Compaq Logo"
Hit # 13 ...some guy wrote that the Compaq Logo was part of the BIOS
and could not be removed.......
Thats all I know..

You can try the search yourself.

(PS I got a few more farts than you ..lol)

Depending upon the Compaq bios version and setting options:

1.)Look in your bios for a setting to switch called full screen logo. If it has it set to disabled

2)Look in your bios for a setting like Diagnostic display mode. If it has it enable it.

3.)If neither of these exist; live with it or destroy the board and install something less proprietary.
