a pic of the whole tree or bush would help too.

seems there are 2 types of leaves there. Is that from another plant?

Well it doesn't have 7 leaves on a plant so that rules out 90% of the posters here figuring it out.

I have four of these plants growing in my yard, but no one can tell me what they are and how big they will get. Anyone have any ideas? I've tried a few leaf identification sites, but I can't get this plant.

Whoa watch out for CrazyLazy to come in here and rip you a new one. Your link actually says something about the content and that angers it.

Which plant are you referring to? The serrate leaves on the tree or the smaller branch with the non uniform shape? The oval serrate leaves look really familiar. Looks like cherry to me. Where region are these tree growing? How big are they?

The one that looks like a bird foot is some type of oak. The other one almost looks like a wild cherry.

The wife's first guess (flower design lady) was a camellia. She wasn't 100% but it does look similar. Does it flower? She is scared you folks are gonna make fun of her, but I assured her that everyone is very polite and gentle on these forums.....

It reminds me of some kind of pest plant. You know, the kind that popup all over the yard, but aren't good for much?

We need pics to decide whether to make fun of her. What's her opinion of Apple, Butter vs Margarine, and ATI vs Nvidia?

Her answers/pics will ultimately decide her fate.

I suppose I can post pics when I get home from work (3pm-ish EST). I will be sure to ask her opinions of the other issues at hand.

Was that first comparison meant to be Apple-butter vs Margarine? Or are you wondering what her opinion is of an apple in the singular form?

I'll ask her about ATI vs. Nvidia, but she will not know what I am talking about. I will quote verbatim and perhaps we will get some amusement from her answer.

Yes I believe that's it. It kinda looks like what we call a Red Tip here in NC (same as Photinia). They can be a bush or a tree, depending on how they are groomed.

Yes, looks like red tip to me too. Chaotic42, are the leaves much redder now than they were in February?

We have 4 of them in my parents' backyard, they were about 15-20' tall this winter, we cut them down to the top of the trunks (about 5') and now they are growing in much bushier.

Yes, they are very red. My coworker, who I've asked about this plant several times and who has seen it in person several times looked at my pictures and said "Oh, that's a redtip!"

What a fruit cake

Thanks for the replies everyone. Botanical crisis averted... for now....
