I've had two pairs of Shures, and they were amazing for running and exercise in general.
I've never had a problem keeping them in my ears (and no comfort issues - wrong-sized speaker buds can cause a lot of discomfort for my ears).
Sometimes when running, I'll take one out of my ear but leave it hanging/resting right outside the ear canal (the cables of Shure IEMs wraps over your ear, so the buds can hang on your ear instead of falling off your head).
I can still hear the music at those times, but I do that when I want to hear the outside world yet still want my music. The Shure IEMs are great about blocking noise (passively), but sometimes I want to hear around me.
