Can anyone recommend some decent earbuds that will actually stay in my ears?

Just bought my first .mp3 player... Yeah, a bit behind the times...

Earbuds don't really fit in my ear... Somewhat uncomfortable because they don't really stay in my ear....

I'd like to be able to be active with my Sansa Clip doing things like mowing the grass, etc... But need some earbuds that don't cost a fortune but will stay in my ears...

Any recommendations?

Find your local audiologist office. Call them up and ask if they make custom fit ear buds.

They will press goo into your ears that is used to make a mold, then send them off to have them made. You end up with perfect-fitting ear buds that go far enough into your ears that you can run/jump/mow/etc. with them in and they don't even move, no matter how strangely shaped the inside of your ears are.

Skull candy, $15. 5+ days a week cardio, yard work, etc. 3 years old and haven't hurt them yet. They come with 3 different ear canal size pads.

Run them under my shirt to eliminate the cord bounce "noise" .

Edit: Use the sanza, too. Found out the hard way that it doesn't like a lot of sweat. Imagine that. Used to put it in my shorts pocket. It got soaked and quit.

Try Shures. They loop over the top of your ear so might be less prone to come out.

My only beef with Skully Candy is that I've gone through a few pairs.. .however, they let me know recently they have lifetime warranty. Just got a pair of full metal jackets, which are ok.

I found the quality of Vmoda to be a little better. They seem more durable but the cord was a bit short.

My Skull Candy didn't and the "default" size falls out of my ears. Mine also sound like crap even compared to the Apple Ipod buds, so I might have just gotten a crappy model.

Crapped out?

Good to know about the lifetime warranty.

Never checked to see if they made different models. Good to know if/when these die.

I love the JVC marshmallows. I go through about 3 pair a year, but I can't find anything else that stays in my ear comfortably. They also have much better sound quality than anything else I've found so far.

Etymotic MC5, 100 bucks will get you custom ear molds for these, but I found the ear pieces that came with were good enough.

Another recommendation for Klipsch Image S4's. They're a bit pricey ($75ish retail), but they fit very well and tend to be very comfortable. For the price, the sound quality is decent (but not great).

JBuds - about $12 - $15 on Amazon.

They come with 3-different sizes, are comfy, have good sound, are very durable + cheap!

Good to know about the lifetime warranty.

I've had cable's tear. 2 of them have torn away at the plug. One eventually completely tore, the other is still working w\ 1/2 inch or so of exposed wire @ the plug area.

Apparently they will replace them if you email their warranty dept.

I picked up a set of SoundMAGIC PL21's after my last set of Marshmallow's crapped out. They come with 3 different sizes of rubber and foam fitting ear pieces. They also come with a behind the ear piece that you can attach.

No one in the US sells SoundMAGIC so I had to get them on eBay. I paid around $17 shipped.

I have a couple pair of Skull Candy ear buds and they work and sound fine. Can't beat it for the price. I think I paid $10 for them at Cycle Gear.

I use this one for cycling. I doesn't go anywhere.

As much as I hate over the ear buds like that, I find them to the best for exercising. I have some ear buds that I love, but they fall out about every 2 minutes. Really annoying.

The real question is how much do you want to spend. Like people have suggested there are a wide range of products out there. I have custom IEMs that I use that don't move at all.
