Can I buy bulk 2,4D for residential use? (yard size)

Any lawn chemical experts around? Wondering if I can buy straight 2,4D for lawn weed destruction, applied at proper concentration per the instructions, of course...

The lawn services that spray stuff are expensive, and granular fertilizer with added 2,4D doesn't work the best...surely I should be able to buy just the 2,4D? Maybe bribe some farmers?

Health risks? No biggie! Possible cancer > thistles in the lawn

You can buy a 2.5 gallon jug at a pesticide retailer (check your local feed and seed stores).

Make sure it's labeled for home use and that you don't need a license to buy it (Restricted Use Pesticide).

Then you only need to worry about the weeds building a resistance to it over time.

That has MCPP in it as well. All depends on what he is trying to control.

I've got an uncle who had this problem. The recently bought an unbuiltt on lott and was doing some work to clear some access roads in it. He either had to pay a fortune to have a guy come out with a tanker to spray vegetation killer or buy small bottles by the pallet, he was having difficulty getting stuff he could mix himself. He ended up having a farmer next door use his ability to buy some bulk stuff to mix.

Don't know what state the OP is from but a lot of states (if not all) do not require a license for 2,4-D. However, if they do, you can usually get a residential license pretty easily.


For the stuff your uncle was spraying, it was probably the chemical they sprayed at Auburn lol.

Ahem, 2.5 gallons isn't "bulk"
