Your problem isn't with the plane (assuming you have permission from the owner), it's with the airport. If the airport/landing strip is completely private, you'll need their permission as well. If it's public, don't even think about it.

Dave

This could not be more inaccurate. An airport terminal is not a pistol free zone in MI. You can carry your gun no problem in the terminal. You obviously can not take it though security. he wont be landing at a "private" strip anyway. Besides you dont need a property owners permission to carry anyplace else, why would an airport be any different?

Again. Private plane - you dont go in the terminal anyway. And yes security for a private plane is a whole lot different. Some of the small municipal airports (like the one we have our work plane at) there is not even a gate. Drive onto the property, park next to hanger, take plane to runway and off you go. Flying into a medium sized airport is much the same. However, in order to get from the FBO building to where the planes are there is a person manning a door. In most places the conversation simply goes have a nice flight. There is no TSA stuff of any type. So yeah, if you want to put 50 lbs of weed in your suitcase and bring it on a private plane, there is nobody that is going to stop you.
Generally speaking your not going to fly into a major airport anyway. its a PITA in a small airplane.

My company's. We have a few.

This would be a Cirrus SR22

Why would you go on a company outing packing heat? No judgement, but the first thing I'd think if I were offered a trip on the company's private plan wouldn't be "can I bring a weapon?"

I addressed this earlier.

I'm currently setting up ghetto stores but after that they want me to go set up a new warehouse in Omaha.

It's not a pleasure trip.

Oh man...don't tempt the old man. He loves new toys and is a pilot. If he could justify a Gulf Stream he would buy one tomorrow

I'd bring a parachute. Cirrus SR22's aren't well known for safe aircraft and whether FUD or not, I would not fly a single prop.

Whether or not the stores are 'ghetto' are you allowed to carry inside them? Are you working days or overnights?

This doesn't make sense other than you want to pack.

So the airport went like this:

Drive up to private entrance
Pilot opens door
Walked through
Pilot says "we are ready" to some lady
We walk the ten feet to the plane

Omaha was even easier. Never went inside a building, they had the rental car waiting on the tarmac right next to where we parked the plane.

So to answer my question: yes you can

You can do whatever the fuck you want in a private plane. No TSA. There are still FAA rules though.

To a point.

If it's legal in the state you're taking off from, AND legal in whatever state you're landing in (assuming you're flying across state lines) for you to carry the firearm, then you're okay. So long as it's okay with the owner of the plane, mind you.

For instance, it's legal for me to carry in Texas, but not New York (where you have to be a resident, and have a permit). If I fly on a private plane from TX to NY, the moment I step off the plane in NY, I'm breaking the law.

Every year, you hear about someone who got bumped from their flight in NYC, who then get their luggage, including a checked firearm, and go stay the night in a hotel. When they go to check in at the NYC airport the next day, they're busted for having an illegal firearm.....even though, to the airline, it was transported there legally.

I believe myself and other pilots gave you that answer
The only time I saw some higher security was in Reno in 2000. I just missed Desmond Tutu at the same FBO.

Yes you did. I am sorry I didn't listen, next time I will.

What do you fly? Our current inventory is 2 SR22s and one Cessna. The Cessna is being replaced with an Eclipse this summer.

Mostly a 310 in the last 10 years.
I've flown most the 50's~90's Cessna, Piper, and Beechcraft singles and most twins, Grummans, Citabrias, Stinsons, Mooneys, Van's Aircraft, Luscombe, Champ, Chief, Lancairs, Glassairs, etc.

I'm jealous. I had never flown in a small airplane before and really didn't want to. Now I'm hooked. That was so much smoother than a commercial flight and the views were amazing.

Looks like a Garmin G1000 cockpit. Do I dare say I have those instruments in Flight Simulator. LMAO!

Yep, thats a good guess since every SR22 comes with one..

Damn plane flew itself except for actual takeoff and landing. I was impressed since we couldn't see the runway (really nasty weather) until we were basically landing. I think it was finally visible at 500 feet or something.

Pretty sure I can put enough ecstasy and hash in 2 suitcases to make the trip pay for itself

Not like I have those kinds of connections or anything...

Eh, to a point you're right, but really your money should be spent on real LSD, in its liquid state you could get at least a million doses transported fairly compactly in a suitcase or something. A drug where the average dose is 100-200µg that you can sell for $10-20 per dose makes a lot of money.

Though if you can mass produce LSD you're probably a well employed chemist.

I'm not confident there is demand for 1 million doses of LSD. I might be good for a few dozen though. LOL
