Can I download movies to PC to watch offline?

I mean LEGIT methods to do this. I will be flying on a 23hr non-stop flight in a few weeks without any wifi/internet access. I want to d/l some movies (or tv shows) to my Windows laptop for offline watching. I looked online and the few places where it SEEMS possible only do it on ipad/iphone/android devices.

I found a site that will let you download stuff from you tube, but not really looking for that. I checked into Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Comcast Xfinity Go and nothing. Nada.

So, what are my options?

They don't allow direct downloads like that for a good reason as it can allow you to share them with others for free.

Check to see if the airline has wi-fi as a lot do these days or have tv's on the back of the seats in front of you to use for a fee.

Otherwise just download stuff from youtube and such and watch that I guess.

Unless you are making copies of DVDs or Blurays that you own, then there is no current legal way to do so.

Why not buy a few movies before you make your trip? There are several places you can pick up used movies for cheap. Like a $1 cheap. They aren't exactly new releases, but there are probably a lot of movies that you haven't seen.

I know VUDU allows you to buy movies and download them to your hard drive, but not sure if you need Internet to verify ownership when playing the movie.

Why not buy a few movies before you make your trip? There are several places you can pick up used movies for cheap. Like a $1 cheap. They aren't exactly new releases, but there are probably a lot of movies that you haven't seen.

I say this is the best option. Buy a few DVDs (garage sales, Craigslist, or heck even a store). Run MakeMKV. Play the DVDs on any device you want.

But, most likely the airplane will have lots of things to watch. Almost all international flights do now.

You can get some new dvd's and blu-rays for as low $4-$6 which is about the same price I occasionally pay for used movies.

This. I downloaded some Prime movies to my tablet for my girlfriend to watch on a flight.

Vudu has an app called "Vudu To Go" it has several functions one of which is the ability to download files for offline viewing. They have OS X and Windows versions of the app. Can't say how well it works, never used it myself.

I thought Google Play allowed you to dl purchased movies to your device to watch offline. Probably requires wifi for a verification but IDK. I would just check the bargain bins at Walmart and see what they have, use MakeMKV as someone suggested and just put them on the laptop or flashdrive.

Actually and technically ripping DVDs you own is against the law (a law called the DMCA). It has never been enforced though.
