Can i keep my Tower Case on the Floor?

I am building a new PC soon and as i have a very small PC desk, I was wondering if I can put my new Athlon based system case on the floor in the corner? its either that or keep it on the desk and make do with a crappy 15" monitor!

Well i know, I had the choice to have a huge workstation desk in the room or my Home Cinema setup. yes I know the Home Cinema came first but thats why i am limited for choice on my new PC!

Will the case be ok in an enclosed space area or does it need as much room as possible? From what i hear the athlons run hot!

My tower is on the floor, right next to my desk. I would try and leave some space behind the case so the exhaust air can escape and I imagine the front will have plenty of space so fresh airflow will not be impeeded. In that case you will be fine.

Your tower on the floor is perfectly fine ... i actually know of more people with their towers on the floor, then on the desk, or anythere else.

Sure,a tower on the floor is the way they were designed from the git-go.A little space all around it would be nice(2-4&quotbut a good sized tower case has enough room inside it to provide active cooling with dc fans.

davidkay, everybody i know has their tower on the floor. btw, i have it on the floor too. i have a small desk and a 15" monitor (sony e100) too.. so, i understand you perfectly.. haha! icck..

The air is cooler near the floor too, unless it's going to be next to a heat vent, so it will run cooler too. Both of my towers are on the floor.

My case has to be on the floor, it's 26 inches tall :Q ! It doubles as a mini desk, for CDs, snacks, and the occasinal dinner .

But yeah, towers on the floor are fine. You might have a lot of dust getting sucked into your case though.

watch for vents on the bottom, though... my intake is under the front bezel, so i have to prop mine up off the floor a couple inches so it sucks air, not carpet.

Tower on the desk? I'd love to see someone with a Supermicro 750a (I have 2) on their desk. Heh. Case itself is 26" tall and is very deep.

Put it on the floor! Just watch the airflow, and make sure your cables are long enough for your application.
