summary: GF gets her masters degree soon and is in talks with a company in Tokyo. I don't have a degree, any chance I can get into the country and stay? I don't see any way I could get a student visa either. All I can see are 3 months tourist visas available. Needless to say, she plans on being there more than 3 months.

Anyone have experience with this at all?

If you don't have a degree, it'll be hard to get an English teaching job, at least a legit one. I guess you could just roam around and play pachinko.

BTW: How'd you get a girl with a masters and you don't even have one? LOL...NICE.

if she plans on being there more than 3 months...and knowing your situation....then she has already started the process of breaking up with you.

if that's the case, then don't make the mistake of following her and then get your heart ripped out in a foreign country with no support. I would say just let her go.

seriously, she probably has already thought this out and is already committed on staying there longer than you can be there, then her heart is already gone....cut the cord.

Unless you can get a job there (with visa sponsorship) or marry her, no, you probably can't stay longer than 90 days.

If she is really serious about the thing and hasn't talked with you about how you're going to stay, then this is too true.

Talk to her about it and see if she wants you to follow her, if not then move on and let her go.

He said they are in talks not that it is a official...

If it goes official and she still doesn't bring it up...then..things don't look good.

She has brought up that she wants me to go with her. Unfortunately, Japan has very strict immigration policies. We've discussed marriage in the past and she brought it up again as a possible way to go with her (she'd be making $$$ and I have found out that I can get a degree though University of Phoenix [lol] if I'm living there) but we don't yet know what the process is regarding if you have to have been married longer than X period of time, etc etc. We also are both a bit leery of walking into a marriage for paperwork purposes. There's also the option of her moving over there, and I finish my degree over here in a year and a half and we re-assess the situation and see where we stand. She has applied for many jobs here in the states and applied for this one on a whim (at my suggestion, we had no idea about the strict immigration policy at the time... guess no good deed goes unpunished), this one seems the more interested in her than any of the jobs here stateside though.

Obviously. Japanese Men love white women, while Japanese Women love white men. But when you put them together, they hate all white people.

Its a interesting phenomenon
