The setup it appears that you are aiming for is not really attainable at ~1500...I will look around...

Looking at it again...

Are you going to Raid those two raptors? If not, forget getting two. You only need 1.

It looks your trying to setup a water cooled system? With that processor unless your doing some extreme OC'ing, I'm pretty sure you will not need it. AIR will be just fine. Get a Zalman 7700(7000??) heatsink.

$300 PS? Can't find anything cheaper? I didn't even know...that was needed....

IS THIS A JOKE? Well if you really want to go down 1500 dollars its pritty obvious that everything needs to be toned down...So im not gonna bother providing links. Anyways, XP-64 isnt going to be out till April. And you Dont need a $180 dollar keyboard/mouse set up. Get a $5 dollar keyboard and a mx510 mouse (35) and you will be fine. Spending $550 on a case and psu is a joke especially if your budget is less than half of your rig...I Dont know why i just wasted my time here...

Some things I'd consider after briefly reviewing your list:

-Don't buy two Raptors (IMO, if you want to save money, I'd just go with an 8MB drive from Seagate/Samsung/Hitachi)
-My friend has the regular Logitech Cordless MX Duo (non-Bluetooth) and has had no problems with it whatsoever. It would be significantly cheaper.
-Many people seem to be recommending an NEC DVD burner (model 3520 or something like that) for the best drive in terms of value

Thanks. I just thought of going down from a 6800 GT to a 6800. Don't know if it will make a difference though. How about $2000 or less?

Definetely. Save yourself some money right there. No need to buy it straight from the manufacturer

I'll check koolance prices also. I thought it would be cheapest if I bought it from the manufacturer.

seeing as how your case and psu and associated items are like $550, EITHER $1500 is not a reasonable goal to get it down to OR you need to accept that what you want costs what it costs...and there's nothing you can do about it if you dont want to substitute cheaper items.

I see a lot of stuff that you can improve on, for less, or the same money...

But, it doesn't look like you're really trying to save money with that setup.

LOL. You must not shop around much.

Newegg Price

Single Pack at TigerDirect

Double Pack TigerDirect

Also...Just pick up an OEM of Win XP 32-bit edition. Do not spend $$$ on the 64-bit version. If you already have a copy of 32-bit, when 64-bit is released you can trade it in for free. That's the better deal there. If you don't have a copy of XP Pro, Maybe you could buy one for the whole $50-$60 OEM online and trade it in for the 64-bit edition.

I take that back. I'd wait for the 64-bit edition to be out for a little while to make sure everything will work 100% for you. The last thing you want is a computer with an OS that wont' work with everything that you have. I'd stick to the XP-Sp2 and wait for some more official reviews/release of the 64-bit edition

By my count, you're planning to spend $850 on case, psu and cooling. Stop me if you've heard this one, but I think this may be part of the problem.

Since you want to do water cooling, you're not going to get an A64 system with a reasonable mix of components for anywhere near your target price.

ixnay on the 64 bit windows. re-allocate that money to elsewere. also, if you're so passionate about cooling, just get a water cooling setup, its quieter, for real

Well first of all ditch the HDD cooling. It is not necessary.

Secondly spend much less money and get the New Seagate Barracudas 7200.8 with NCQ and SATAII support. Raptors though fast can be a waste of money.

Third get rid of those 5 fans. Why do you need a PSU cooling fan when the PSU is already being cooled? For the fans ditch them all and get 2x 80mm Panaflo 12L fans. You dont even need 4 as you are water cooling 90% of your equipement.

Fourth, dont get blue tooth. It is an utter waste of money. Simply get the Cordless MX Duo USB for $63 at Newegg. IIRC that board nor anything you have equipped on it even supports blue tooth.

As for the memory you are using an A64 system so it has an on die memory controller. Look in the CPU Processors/OCing forum for Zebos memory matrix. Value RAM performs just as good. So unless you are OCing there is no real reason to wait. Value RAM is just as fast in everything except OCing. If you want the OCing RAM just get some cheap TCCD chips.

-Kevin

Edit: Also get Artic Silver 5 TIM instead of that other stuff. It is cheaper and is does a better job.

I agree with you about the motherboard.

Why would he order the same CPU at a higher price?

I agree about the Value RAM

I STRONGLY disagree with the video cards. Why get 2 6600GT's right now when a 6800GT still performas better, puts out less heat, and provides for a future upgrade all for ~$20 more.

I disagree with the keyboad and mouse. The MX Duo USB (Same thing as what he was looking at only cheaper) is much cheaper and does the same thing.

I agree with the first HDD

I think the second HDD should be the 7200.8 series as Nforce 4 can take advantage of all the new features incorporated in it.

I agree with the Optical Drive.

You are completely redoing his system, when they ask you ropinion simply modify theres as much as possible dont build a whole new system.
