Can I run SLI?

Okay I feel like an idiot.

I posted on the FS forum that I was looking to trade one of my 7600GT's (Leadtek PX7600GT to be exact) for a different 7600GT (eVGA 7600GT KO).

I just got a great deal on the eVGA card and I want to do SLI. Someone politely told me that I don't have to have identical cards to run SLI, they just need to be the same chipset.

Since I have these two cards (look at the links below), can I still run SLI?

Just make sure you dl the latest drivers, then it'll work.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

Technically, you don't really need to download the latest driver. There was a driver before that that enabled mixed vendor SLI.

Okay another question.

I have the Intel Bad Axe mobo. So which drivers do I need to get from nVidia (or do I need hacked drivers). The Bad Axe is a Crossfire board, but I know you can run SLI on a Crossfire board.

Also, will any SLI brige work? The only ones I see for sale anywhere are the ASUS SLI bridges.

you need haxxed drivers. Where to get them -- I don't know.

I know where to get them, but does anyone know if there is any huge advantage to the SLI bridge? I have seen in some benchmarks that it actually improves performance, but those were older articles.

The SLI bridge is definitely needed to run SLI.

I have never heard of running SLI on an Intel chipset. Anyone have any info on that?

SLI bridge is not needed...

And yes people have found ways to run SLI on Intel chipsets

Basically, the faster the card, the more important the bridge becomes performance wise

So, for the lower end SLI cards, the bridge doesn't make as much of a difference as it does for the higher end cards? Just to test, I am going to run a benchmark on my dual GTOs with and without the bridge.

Found an article explaining it. There is a performance hit without using it.
