Can I set system restore to save on a different drive

My OS drive has system restore enabled. It's a relatively small (256gb) NVMe drive primarily for OS and applications, but also for files that I want to store on the faster drive. I want to keep restore enabled, but I don't want to use the precious limited space available on this drive. I instead want to save restore points to a backup drive that I have. Is there a way to do this natively in System Restore? If not, what are some third-party options I should consider that would allow me to save OS backups that I can easily restore in case of a system failure?

Do you really want to "adjust" System Restore to another drive (not possible, AFAIK, because it works within the filesystem of each drive), or do you want a backup solution (either file, image, or both)?

Macrium Reflect Free Edition is free to download and for personal usage.

I don't try to save images anymore as I've learned over the years that when things get fubar it's best to just start fresh. The only thing that I back up is data and reinstall everything in a clean install. Software that is clouded will resync once I log back in so no worries there. I keep my email imap and mapi so I don't have to fool around with pst's anymore either.

Thanks -- any that you recommend?

Windows has a built in imaging tool called "backup and restore". It works fine. I always do an image after a clean install with all applications loaded, and then occasionally a new image. If the drive goes south, or I want a clean install, I can use the original image for a "clean" install". 5 minutes, rather than spending hours installing from scratch.

If you really want system restore, just limit the size it uses in the configuration settings, and it won't eat all your space.
