Can I switch partition types with Ghost???

Here's the deal. As some of you might have read, I have 2000 and 98 on seperate drives. I can manually swap cables and jumpers if I want to dual boot but I would rather not

Anyway, I was going to use Partition Magic to convert my boot ntfs partition to fat32 but that was a no go. Probably because of my Promise Ultra 100 card.

Well I was getting to thinking that I could possibly ghost the NTFS partition then plop it down on the Fat32 partition after I reformat. Is this possible?

Nope.

Ghost writes the targetpartition the sameway as the sourcepartition.

But what's the deal with Ghost saying that it *CANNOT* write NTFS partitions from disks, only over networks.

If this is the case, I would assume I am completely screwed since I don't have enough backup HD space to move the image.

Ghost cannot convert partitions. Well, if you are trying to go from Fat16 to Fat32. Ghost will only "resize" partitions, not convert. What version of Partition Magic are you using?

I have Partition Magic 6.0 and it starts to run but then reboots with some sort of error about the data being clustered or something. I'll try it again and give the exact error. But either way, I think the problem lies in the fact that my HD's are connected to an ULTRA 100 ATA card.

Win2K CD (after booting with it) won't even recognize the drives unless I load the 3rd party driver so maybe partition magic is having the same trouble. I am not sure.

All I want to do is basically snag my NTFS data, and put it on a Fat 32 partition so I can setup the dual boot. Instead I may just bite the bullet and re format

Anybody know is the 2000 boot loader will work on multiple drives? I want to set up 98 on a small drive I have, and use the other for all my 2k things...Remember, I have an ULTRA ATA 100 card
