I don't want to be one of those parents that ruins the movie for everyone because of a screaming/talking/whining kid.

but my 3 year old can actually sit still and watch a movie with minimal talking or fidgeting (as long as the movie is interesting)

we want to go see prince caspian today...but it'll be the 3yr olds first movie

Sure, but I would ask that you please remove him from the theatre the second you even think he may be a nuisance to the rest of the audience.

There are many things that can ruin a person's experience in a theatre, and kids are one of the biggest

It's a public holiday, so there's gonna be a huge crowd at the theaters. Be considerate of others if your kid misbehaves, and don't be that parent who thinks he owns the theater.

The movie theatre will be filled with screaming kids anyway since its a children's movie.

Your idea of sitting still and being quiet is probably very different than those who do not have children, fwiw.

Very true. Most of the kids that cause trouble in public places have parents who think they're little angels.

I don't see why not. My 2yo has seen Alvin and the Chipmunks, Horton hears a who, and Speedracer at the theatre. Just take him/her during a matinee, where people can expect children to be there. If people REALLY don't want to be in a movie w/ children they will go to the later showings, or the non-kids themed movies.

matinees are good advice. my kids are generall well behaved, but ive made it clear that they be good during movies or we will leave. i dont take them often, once i had to keep one out for 20 minutes because she wouldnt behave, otherwise theyve been pretty decent (and they sure as fuck havent had a cell phone ring during the showing!)

Actually, when I go to the movies, I make it a point to go earlier in the day to avoid the noisy crowds and kids that mostly populate the later showings.

When I go see a movie... It's so bad at the theater these days I just usually wait until it hits DVD. It's also usually cheaper, quieter and cleaner.

I don't know, I feel like if you're an adult seeing a children's movie in the afternoon, you've got no room to complain about noisy kids being in the theater. it'd be like complaining about guidos in a dinner in northern new jersey.

If the child is a distraction in any way shape or form them be ready to walk them out. As much as I love kids, I don't like paying for a movie and then suffering someone else' fidgety\not so quiet children. I keep that thought in mind when I do venture to the theater with my kids (7, 5.5, 4 & 2.5yrs) I make sure we sit close to an isle and I go in prepared to take my kid(s) out of the theater if they act up.

Though occasionally my wife or I have had to quiet one of the younger ones by taking short walk and coming back we've found that a 'ground rules' talk before and high praise afterward go a long way to encourage good behavior. In the same mindset, we have turned around and gone home or cut an event short to prove that we will follow through. They learn pretty quick that poor behavior shorts them of enjoying life.

also helps to do the kid movies earlier in the day (matinee) as those seatings will be more kid populated than the later showings.

No. You'll blow his little eardrums straight into his brain. Modern movie theaters are too loud for adults, let alone three year olds who still have intact hearing.

everything went awesome

she never made a peep and she barely moved

the fat adults behind me were really noisy. they went to refill their popcorn and sodas twice, and both times they came back sounding like Fatty McGee Takes the Stairs

Someone brought an infant to the theatre when I saw I Am Legend. That was fun.

What's up with that? You're a year overdue to have another kid.
LOL! we chose to have and stop at four. We have fun with the adventure and are comfortable with our family size. For some, one kid is too much. For us, we're comfortable with a larger (by today's standards) family.

Infant, no big deal; they won't register what they're seeing or hearing... but two or more years - talking therapy if they see that movie
